About to buy a new case from Overclockers and I check my bank balance before I placed my order and seen this..

28 May 2012 Debit Card Transaction - £49.00

Apon further inspection Amazon took out £49.00 for some "Amazon Prime" which I didn't click on or have used.

Went on their site to cancel:

Since you have not used your Amazon Prime benefits, we are refunding your membership fee. Your refund should be processed within the next 2-3 business days and will appear as a credit on your next credit card billing statement. If your latest membership charge is still processing, we'll issue the refund as soon as the charge is completed.


Seriously tho, they should send out emails before they debit money from people who have signed up for this by a mistake because I usually read everything! :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
 
I am 99% sure you signed up for Amazon Prime and it specifically told you at the time that you'd be charged £49.99 after the one-month trial ended.

Happened to me when I completely forgot that I'd done the free trial. Be thankful that they're nice enough to refund it.
 
I had the same problem. I signed up to the amazon prime trial thing for free shipping and forgot to cancel. I didn't find out until I got a letter from the bank saying I was overdrawn (i'm a student, i'm poor). Got refunded the membership fee but had to pay the bank a £25 fine; £5 for each day of unplanned overdraft:mad::mad::mad:.
 
I thought the Amazon Prime trial was quite clear that you get charged once the trial period is up (I've done it twice, because they reoffered it to be me once).

Of course you need to remember to cancel it if its not a service you intend to use. As in your case though, there will always be people who forget and so end up paying.
 
I was surprised that, since they send me 9999 emails about things I've just bought or new offers, they didn't even send a notification that they had begun charging me, sneaky *****.

But he agreed to the terms and conditions when he agreed to take the trial. It even tells you when you will be charged.

I've seen the Amazon Prime signup process, it clearly states that you will be automatically billed and exactly when.

I cant believe you are still angry after they have agreed to rectify YOUR mistake so professionally and without quibble.

I'm not angry, just the fact they wont send you out any emails regarding it, letting is go silent assuming most people who sign up for it will forget about it.

You can tell it not to automatically renew straight after you sign up for the trial, so there's no fault with Amazon here. Though I do actually use Prime myself since it's a bargain with how much stuff I order off Amazon throughout the year.
 
This happened to me last year, I was happy they let me cancel and refunded me, they didn't need to do that as it was my fault, the terms are made very clear.
 
IT's in REALLY big letters, comes with a sign up bonus, tells you the T+C's and also how to cancel.

Nice of em to refund you no questions asked, surely this thread is a ++ for Amazon lol
