**AMD 5700 X3D Owners CLub**

Just spotted these had dropped sub 120, be rude not to at that price really.
Not that I’ll see much difference as I’m still on a vega64 gpu. But gives a bit more longevity to the pc for not much outlay. Probably get a few quid back for my 3700x though I may just repurpose it as I’ve a spare b450 board and ram.

It's an insane amount of gaming performance for the money. Less than half what I paid for my 5800X3D a year ago. You could drop just about any current higher-end graphics card in there and be back to top tier gaming performance on a nearly eight year old platform.

I started out with a first gen Ryzen 1600 and x370 motherboard way back when. Then plopped the current 3700x in a few years back. Picked up the tomahawk max b450 for 40 quid a couple of years ago. All small incremental upgrades for very little financial outlay (relatively speaking) and as you say a half decent gpu and I’m good for a few more years barring any hardware failures. I got a lot of love for what amd have done with Ryzen.

I've been on a bit of a binge. The only parts not upgraded are the Mobo and SSDs, HDDs, cooler and RAM. The RAM was done last year anyway, as was the AIO. I have spent about as grand or so on parts including this processor. Loving my new case which I had to get as the GPU didn't really fit in my H500i with and Rad there. I had to prop up the GPU with an old plug spanner lol.

Very tempted to swap out my 5600 for one of these, assuming my b350 can handle it.
What board specifically? Iirc some manufacturers didn’t/couldn’t provide the required bios updates for b350’s - it’s some time ago since I last looked into it so that may have changed but easily enough checked

Should do, but check manufacturers website. You may need to update the BIOS.

Strix B350-f - just checked & there's a bios for it so should be good to go if I grab one. I kept meaning to grab a B450 but never got around to it.

I've just ordered this CPU even though I was waiting for the 5800x3D to drop in price - the cost of the 5700x3D in comparison was too good to ignore!

I am upgrading from a 3600 on an Asus x570 Prime Pro.

Anything particular I need to do for the upgrade (other than update the bios) ?

I went from a 3600 as well - it had a fairly piddly OEM cooler on it so I did invest in a chunkier Thermaltake number after reading about the need to keep temps under control with the new chip. Other than the BIOS, that was it though.

Don't forget to take the old one out first! Don't get any TIM on the socket. I did that once and had a hell of a job sorting it out. I had to use IPA in the end.
