**AMD 5700 X3D Owners CLub**

In the HUB video the 5700X3D is approx 15% faster in games than the 5700X, 1080p & game dependant of course.
You're looking at roughly a £70 cost to upgrade if you sell your old chip, so is it worth it to you? \shrug-emoji

I'm torn whether to upgrade to the 5700x3d. Currently on an x570 with 5700x boosting to 4850 with a 7900XT and 1440p (MSI 271QPX). If I have this correct, for the majority of games the performance will be the same or better, I just don't know if its worth the jump. Or wait and go AM5 later. To be fair my current gaming experience is pretty solid so may stay where I am.
The 5700x3d will be limited to 4.1Ghz max.

Whilst the x3d technology is really good at lifting the gaming performance up, it won't outcompete a 750Mhz difference. There may be some extreme edge cases where something like 1% lows are better on some really random game, but I'd recommend sticking with the 5700x you have.

Thanks. I will stay where I am until I really need to upgrade.

Hi
I' am expecting 5700x3d soon but i was wondering should i use my old Noctua nh-d15s that i bought back in i7 7700k era for cooling or should i get for example Deepcool Assasin VI ?

I like the design of deepcool assasin VI vs Noctua but I'm not sure about performance vs noctua nh-d15s. For noctua i would also require to order am4 mounting set.

I would also use my old ddr4 ram hyperx predator at 3000mhz XMP profile and i was wondering would i gimp performance severely of 5700x3d if i don't use for example 3200mhz or 3600mhz ddr4?

Any advice is appreciated.

The Noctua will be fine, or buy a new HSF but they don't run hot, especially if you use CO, -30 all cores is common.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 9800x3d at the end of the month. Quite the investment as it will be around a grand. Looking at the reviews, doesn't seem like there will be much of an uplift, especially in 4k. I do have an older x370 mobo. I wonder if it will be worth it? I have a newer GPU, 7900 xtx.

Compared to sticking with AM4?

I'd say its worth it even if its more of an outlay. AM4 is a dead socket now, at least with a AM5 socket mobo you should still have options in a year or two time if you want to upgrade. Although on the flip side if you feel the uplift isn't worth it I would stick the money in a good savings account and let it get some interest on it and then use it to fund an upgrade when I felt there was a justifiable uplift.

From a glance at reviews the 9800x3d gives in general a 20-40% uplift in 1% lows! That's huge, and average FPS is even better.

Not sure what review you've seen, perhaps the 7900xtx is holding things back a little if used with a 9800x3d. Although, everything is perspective. If you're playing a particular game that doesn't leverage the boost or if you use things like v-sync to restrict frames to a monitor range then yes, upgrading is unlikely to be worthwhile.

I think you need to make your own call depending on what games you play and how you play them. Hardware Canucks tested the scaling of the 5090 and the 58x3d hangs well.

Personally I am probably just gonna skip AM5. Nothing against it but the 5700x3d plus 3080 combo isn't struggling in any of the games I play.
