Not surprised. 6800 isn't good value anyway.
Comparing to what? It's £600 here, which is WAY below any AIB prices of anything even remotely available. If you talk about MSRP - these prices won't be seen for many months to come, for both NVidia (3070&3080) and AMD (6800 and 6800XT). XT models we likely won't see anymore delivered here this year and then only AIB models next year, for much higher prices.
I doubt MSRP will be a thing next year either, given that the government have been dropping hints about a VAT rise to pay off the Kung Flu debt, which means all luxury goods get hit even harder. Expect prices to rise, if anything.

Coupled with Brexit overheads, I think we'll be looking back on these prices as a bargain

VAT is the smallest increase we'll see, I am sure. You can add delays and huge stock shortages (even just for the reason of clogged ports if nothing else) increasing prices as well, along with all other shenanigans brexit-related (deal or no deal). Might simply not see any sensible stock for many months still, for any of these luxury goods.
That said, GPUs are a luxury goods (sans work use, that is). We might forget about them quickly the moment we start feeling food shortages and similar basic products. Time will tell.
Income Tax too, no doubt. The rich will of course not be paying their fair share, so the rest of us will get hammered. I'm not looking forward to 2021 if I'm totally honest, I have a feeling us workers are going to be apples in an apple press!
Got bored waiting for AMD, just napped a RTX 3090 FE, I just can't see when they're going to be stock of either 6800XT or 6900XT so I've jumped ship to the Green Team (can't quite believe it).

Right now, if you can get it at MSRP, it's a brilliant choice because currently it's impossible to give meaningful price to performance numbers.
