AMD 6800 & 6800 XT MBA LAUNCH AT 2PM TODAY - EXTREMELY LIMITED STOCK!

at MSRP which doesn't exist ATM both cards are compromised. RDNA2 has enough RAM but not enough performance to utilize it, Ampere has the performance, but not enough VRAM.

I fully expect some Ampere Ti class cards to drop with extra RAM and probably some more cores and RDNA2 to drop prices.
Then why the 3090 doesn't wipe the floor with the 6800XT/3080?
It's faster, yes, but only 10-15%?

My 5700xt got a lot better in performance in the year I owned it and I think the 6000 series will age well too and gain better performance over Nvidia current cards they seem to overclock more and use less power and enough ram to future proof. I think the only thing Ampere has going for it is better ray tracing at the moment.

This will be true if it's scale linearly but ofc we can give more power to the others as well
For now 10-12GB is enough even for 4K, and in the future maybe games start storing data in the video ram instead of system ram (with RTX io/DirectStorage).
Maybe this is the reason why AMD puts that much ram onto the cards.

Not necessarily, because raster and shader performance has its peak too. We know the 3800 is not far off being at the top of its envelope due to how far it will overclock......the difference with the 3090 is that power issues become prevalent before it hits its peak performance and prevents it using available resources and well within heat tolerance.

There is no magic extra power or chip performance that's why all 3080 are virtually within 2-3fps, the same goes for all 3090, this is what this chip is capable of and there is no way 3080ti with 20gb will somehow magically beat 3090, there is no room there, never mind how ****** all people that bought 3090 would be, especially some of the top AIB models for £500 over RRP.

Just because I like jumping in, fact is they are both overpriced, people will flood buying consoles, I cannot see many people with less budget upgrading when there is a new "generation leap" console launch really, let alone new potential PC Gamer. I think both AMD and Nvidia (well Nvidia is no surprise after several scam attempts after the 10xx series, last worth upgrading to) are overpriced and in case of Nvidia underwhelming except the puddle simulator part that probably no one will care about for another generation of GPUs. Unfortunately the ones of us who can / want upgrade seen the trend won't make a for a strong platform, once again, after some years of refreshing higher sales.

Current lower tier is a joke too, 6800 is way overpriced and honestly would have done with 11gb Vram and the 3070 imho is DoA (well if we can call arrival).

For the first time they really seem to me they are as bad as each other, with AMD not really being able to ask a premium price considering that is the first time in years and years they are competitive on GPUs, worse so if anyone would have to factor a monitor freesync not knowing if it will last a further release.

Whoever has a 1080ti again will probably be better off keeping it, people with 2080ti can enjoy the reflective puddles too so they can keep it that one too.

I'd love to buy a console, but MS have said they won't be able to meet demand until March next year at the earliest. Retailers are telling people if they order now March is the earliest they'll be fulfilled.

Although Sony has not made a similar statement, analysts believe they also have no chance of meeting demand until around Q2 2021.

I think prices for everything are going to remain bat**** insane until March next year. People can't get hold of anything right now, and people desperate to be early adopters are happy (or at least willing) to pay way over the RRP to get something ASAP.

mate the bay, some crazy scalping going on with the PS5, insane prices and people are buying them, like 900 quid for a console, my days, 1st this happened with the 30 series cards, now AMD cards and now consoles

I reckon Corona is the main cause of a lack of stock in the markets

why is there such a low number of the AMD cards? like limited number and no more stock, whats that about?
Probably so as not to upset their AIB partners, and to say they were available at £xxx when in reality the AIB cards will be £xxx + £yyy.

The initial reports were "limited MBA (made by AMD) run and no more", we've since had somebody say there might be some more, but how many and when is completely unknown.

The whole thing is a joke. In reality most of us will be waiting until 2021 and maybe even Q2 to get hold of something at RRP.

AMD says this reference stock was made 3-4 months ago so this was the amount they planned to sell at MSRP at launch.

Between then and now Nvidia had their product launch and **** the bed resulting in many customers unable to get an enthusiast Nvidia card.

AMD believes they underestimated the market for enthusiast cards on top of more general 2020 issues causing higher demand.

Personally I believe reference card week is a dishonest marketing tactic of selling limited stock at unrealistic price just to legitimise the "MSRP" which has abnormally low or no profit for the AIBs to make or the retailer to sell at. Looks better value in reviews than the less artificial versions that are allowed 1 week later. But the reviews are long done by then.

So since there never was meant to be a significant number of reference cards it was always going to get wrecked, just maybe a bit faster this year.

The question is actually how many AIB cards are available at real pricing next week since that was always intended to be the major volume of cards.

Seeing that a few people that tryed to buy a 6800xt with PayPal and amazon pay have had refunds. Any info on when those that payed with debit card via braintree will get their refund issued?

If anyone ordered from AMD direct has anyone had shipping info? Mine says “order in process“ service by FedEx.

I guess if its coming from somewhere in the US then it could take an extra few days. Could be weeks? Hopefully get some info soon :)
