AMD 7990

with max oc it's at 1.185v but only just, any lower and it'll crash

the values are different on AMD Catalyst, but it's ok if i adjust them both together

but to me it looks the same as the stock settings, i think i'd prefer the GPU to run cooler, so i might downgrade it to stock, after all it's still at 120 FPS on stock :D

Run it stock and undervolted. You can really undervolt the 7990s quite a bit, improves the noise and temps significantly.

well i've just a quick go at Sniper Elite 3 and it's much faster than the 7970, it's also smoother with far less noise when you spin the mouse fast

it wont work in quadfire, the top card gets too hot and crashes, it's not a driver issue, it's a heat issue

it was just an idea nothing else

the 7990 seems to be running hot, is 80 degrees ok in Heaven ????

the back plate is really hot to touch and very quickly too, it heats up in about 8 seconds in Heaven and stays hot for ages after finishing... about 5 minutes

80 degrees is fine. You've got an awful lot of technology packed onto that thing ! Mine has hit mid 80s when pushed really hard.

hi Andy ;)

yea i'm just getting a bit nervous that's all, i'm thinking of another pc case, i might try a custom work bench, because it's not that noisy just too confined in there...

Mine runs hotter undervolted and stock clocks. They are designed to withstand it. Some really intense games will take mine up to 98-100. Most in the 80s though. That is with a well ventilated case.

i've got the temp down to 75 degrees, i fitted a 90mm exit fan on the outside lower pci slots and a cover over the PSU ....the intake air now goes under the gpu and straight out the back

i'm not happy with the 7990 !!!! there's a pool of very hot air around the first fan, (the closest fan to the rear panel)...... it's running at 97 degrees in Heaven

all i've done is to up the overclock from 4.5 to 4.6

the exit fan isn't removing this pool of heat, it's blasting out to the side level with the back plate...........the 7970 was nothing like this

i think 4.6 is effecting it too much
