AMD Matt can probably confirm but for some reasons the Fury / Fury X 4GB HBM does not seem to cause them any limiting issues due to lack of VRAM even at 4k. I am not sure but my guess is the HBM works differently or has a form of compression, but let AMD Matt explain.

I'm tempted by another Fury for £299 but I'm looking at going 1440p wide. Is crossfire/dx12 multi adaptor any good and will I be mugged off by only 4gb of vram? I'm only on 1080p at the moment so it isn't an issue now.
With HBM 1080P and 1440P are certainly no issue with 4GB, but I personally would probably only buy one card as I seriously cannot see a Fury running out of horsepower at 1080P and 1440P, it should blast through every game maxed at at 1440P at 60FPS and higher.

Why do all the Fury cards quote the memory speed as 1000 mhz instead of 500 mhz?
Have they been changed in some way doubling the speed or is it just being read differently?

I wouldn't get a card with only 4GB vram now, its just not enough, already got games that need/use more, and theres more coming, even games are recommending the 390s over the Furys because of the vram.

Same here, However the Nitro at 299 is a great price and the truth is as seen with ROTTR dropping the ram hogging texture setting down from very high to high solves the memory shortage and still provides 99% of the image quality.
What I find annoying is games like the Forza beta that simply won't allow you to even try the very high texture setting because you only have a 4gb card. But that's the Windows store for you, you know how much they want to control everything.

It doesn't matter that you have AMDs top tier card, as the next one down is the better one, as that one can run higher settings, which it shouldn't be like, as thats what you buy the top cards for.

Well it is easy to work out, times the AMD prices by 1.30, then divide them by 1.45 and you will arrive at the prices we could have done.
If I get the USD cost down by a good chunk, the price drops irrelevant of exchange rate, but of course the fact does not change if the pound was even stronger, the prices would be even lower.
Even I will quote that as BS, a Fury will destroy a 390/390X 8GB in all but a handful of games, 4GB or not.
Of course if I only played Forza or whatever windows game it is that only enables high textures for above 4GB then I would buy a card to suite that game and with 390 8G at £199 and 480X 8G at £219, there is great choice.

I'm interested in R9 Fury Nitro, I don't think 4GB HBM is big concern for me especially when I only game at 1080p.
It's quite tempting for me to pre-order the Fury right now but I really need to know RX 480 custom cards core speeds and overclocking abilities before doing this.
Does anyone have some information for the above?

No rush, RX 480 clocks should get confirmed now within a week or so and we might start to see some testing results and maybe reviews within two weeks. I have a lot of Fury incoming so the stock will last a few weeks, fingers crossed.
