AMD Bulldozer Finally!

I think FX isn't the same moniker that it used to be, i.e. ultimate performance. I think its all marketing all based on Bulldozer being top of the AMD crop, plus they are being named 'Vision FX', which i think is going to be a new 'Phenom II' style top-end processor. I don't personally expect the Vision FX to be priced like Intels Extreme Editions. would think the Llano processors will take over the Phenom brand and Athlon brand. ;)

I really hope that AMD have a winner here. It would make me personally very happy as competition for the performance sector will result in lower prices for really good quality kit. And that can only be a good thing.

Waking people up to the fact that they don't have to buy a new socket every 18 months can only be a bad thing for intel :)

Yup. Hope the bulldozer forces intel to be a lil' more competitive. Just want a price drop in the i5 :D

1 week till CeBIT starts...

Anyone else thinking we get hardly anything from AMD in terms of Bulldozer performance details at the event?

At the least I'm hoping for a launch date more specific than Q2.

I don't think we'll see any real benchmarks much before launch, even if it spanks sandy bridge they won't want to give intel the chance to rush out a faster processor.

think we might get an actual launch date and maybe at least some information about performance, doubt we'll see actual comparisons and the likes mind. ;)

If it spanked sandybridge I can't help but think details would be out already to weaken/kill sandybridge sales which despite the chipset issue are flying out right now.

I'm getting an awfully strong feeling of deja vu when we were talking about AMD's 6xxx series of graphics cards compared with Nvidia's a few months back. Complete silence, people rumoring if it was because the cards weren't actually as fast as we hoped, everyone else saying that was just how AMD worked, then the cards came out... and were pretty underwhelming :(

Hopefully its not going to be a repeat of that.

Would have to disagree with you onthe underwhelming comment, my pair of 6950's scale so well that they outperform SLI 580's. Would link to the anand bench thingy but on my iPhone... And it's so much effort :D
