AMD Bulldozer Finally!

These closed loop WC solutions are not much better than the high end air coolers anyway, if better at all that is.

Why not just include BETTER Air coolers?

Surely using a WC bundled cooling solution limits your target users in that not 100% of cases are suitable for rad mounting? If it really is that much of an enthusiast chip that you need to model most of your system around the chip (Read case as well as mobo) then why include anything at all? Let the buyer implement their own custom loop, pick their own closed loop solution or decide if they prefer to use high end air.
Mm, I wish they'd stop using ~70mm fans for one - the amount of noise the stock X4 955 cooler can make is absurd. I replaced the one in my girlfriend's system with an old Cooler Master 92mm contraption, which is dead silent in comparison.

Other side of the coin is that even less cases would take a full tower heatpipe cooler that would be required to give better cooling. As someone said earlier it's just a marketing exercise if they go down this route as these chips (at least on paper so far) are no hotter than any previous CPUs that AMD or Intel have released.

Any news on Bulldozers ? maybe a release date ? ive decided to wait for it... thank god for fallout Steam deal, got Fallout 3 GOTY and New vegas for 15, enough game time to wait for bulldozer.

My Atlhon x2 5400+ still packs a punch gotta say.... REALLY IMPRESSIVE for such an old tech

It almost certainly hits retail on the 19th of September, worldwide. Though possibly with slightly limited availibility initially.

Think of the money it's saved them though lol, most ppl that upgrade to BD won't really need the extra power, they just want something new to play with.
Anyone that really needs a lot of processing power will have bought a 2500k or 2600k when they first came out.

Indeed, If you can afford to wait, you wait (or if you can't afford, well, you have no choice). Some ppl have repeatedly got themselves overly worked up over release rumours despite the seemingly obvious intent of AMD to keep things quiet till release or at least untill they are good and ready for everyone to know.

I personally can't wait for 6/8 core goodness, but my q6600 still does fine despite it's age and I could probably wait till either Intels or AMD's next offerings (upgraditis aside).

Waiting game

I can't wait to see what the price of the cheapest 8 core chip will be.

If its not too expensive and it is comparable to Sandybridge speed that will be enough for me.

I would be doubling my cores (or modules) and have a small hike in Mhz from my q6600 (well from stock anyway not that it has ever been run at that speed :D other than a quick test to make sure it worked before I lapped it )

What are people going to buy then? I'd have the 6 core one, 8 is overkill at the minute imo, once programs start using 6 or more cores new chips would have been released.

I'm just waiting for bulldozer so I can grab a cheap Phenom II x6 or something second hand for cheap. Couldn't afford a new processor and board at the min, haha

it depends on the price... but im aiming for a FX6150 (if there is...) or FX6100, but if they arent all that expensive, i might get an 8150/8100
