how much difference would make the 8core 3.6Ghz vs 8core 3.1Ghz (OC is out of the question)

I'm really not bothered about who's Pro AMD and who's Pro Intel, to be honest being pro either means you only lose out somewhere along the line. I just don't like being accused of anything, If both you marms and CAT-THE-FIFTH had left alone the fact people were talking about sandybridge, then the past few pages of back and forth wouldnt have happened.

Most the comments on Sandybridge are either:

People purchasing Sandybridge now as they cant be bothered waiting for Bulldozer (Very on topic, due to Bulldozer delays)

People wondering whether to buy a Sandybridge or wait for Bulldozer. (Also on topic as we don't know when bulldozer is released, or how it will perform)

People wondering whether bulldozer will outperform or under perform Sandybridge (On topic again, as we're all wondering if bulldozer will take the crown from the existing top performer)

Which of these sets of people are we accusing of just raising their E-peen exactly(Which is such a damn childish term) Because as far as I'm aware we're just having a discussion. What is it that makes you guys need to belittle people just because we mention the current performance leader, in a thread about a potential new performance leader?! Can you not figure out why the discussion is being had? or why it keeps coming up.

Yes, my telling you to increase your brain power may have been harsh, But I was basically saying, surely you can understand why Sandybridge is being discussed!? And it was no more harsh than you having a go at anyone mentioning Sandybridge.(lols, they're just increasing their E-Peen)

I'm not interested in Sandybridge at all, 4 cores is not enough for me. I'm interested in how much better Bulldozer performs than the Phenom II x6 and how it will be priced, and if x6 prices drop or not.

Is it foolish to speculate whether BD (with 8 cores) will bring an end to the massive Intel dominance in Photoshop performance?

Was always a bit heartbreaking to see even an i5 would halve my waiting times, and an i7 cut them in three...

I'd expect the BD 8 core to outpace the 2600k by a slight margin. But I wouldn't like to comment on the Intel hexcores.

That's a very weird benchmark... Why are the older Gulftowns scoring better than the SandyBridges?? :confused:

FM2 is where BD is really going to shine (That's coming from those who've had the chance to play with BD already) - That's what I'm waiting for tbh, no point changing a CHIV for a shiny snazzy software CHV in the meantime as most peeps on the xtreme OC sites are already branding AM3+ as EOL - lol.

And second iteration of BD for it to shine? Simply not good enough really

so am3+ will have a year or two of life.

2.) An AMD employee, when I linked to a rehashed Gigabyte board with a AM3+ socket, then to a CH IV AM3, and said "There's no way in hell that board will handle BD better", guess what? He agreed. AM3+ isn't a magical
standard.
3) I can't show you proof, because it doesn't exist yet, I told you to wait until launch, you've not given proof I'm wrong, because there isn't any proof, there's statements, but no evidence.

FM2 is touted next year.

Obviously, but I'm on about those who have the CH IV etc already. High end AM3 boards.
And that AM3+ doesn't need to be around, as the second iteration of BD will be on a new socket.
The only reason I see for AM3+ existing is so that people don't try throwing a BD into a low end AM3 board, but then you've got boards rehashed with an AM3+ socket.

fm2 could be delayed/pushed back we don't know... just because it says 2012 on they roadmap doesn't mean they must stick to it.

Surely its just the same principal as AM2 and AM2+ boards?

Some AM2+ processors work in the AM2 boards, but with degraded ability

If you install AMD AM2+ CPU on AM2 motherbord, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted.

Also, Its possible as it is with AM2 boards, that as new bios versions come out, more processors will work with older boards. I remember a board that didnt work with AM2+ until something like bios 1.7 hit the market.

Stop saying AM3+ isn't pointless, there's no evidence it isn't. Same thing really isn't it?

And like I said, an AMD employee stated that the CH IV would obviously handle it better than a basic AM3+ board. Ergo, AM3+ isn't a magic standard.
