lol whut you aim to play at 125 , 250 at least in cod even if you play semi pub mode :) makes a hell of a difference not a bit. saying there is no difference is quite frankly daft.

Excepting for the fact in the use case you're suggesting people play with lowered graphics which mean either of those cards will hold 250 constant in pretty much any situation.

It's a fairly stupid comparison for what's the better card, though could still reflect what gives better value based on what you actually want to do with the thing.

On that topic, the CPU is important when it comes to getting those stupid high FPS numbers (with their lowered graphical settings) which many competitive gamers want. Hopefully bulldozer core performance is good enough to make this unimportant, and I think that it probably will be.

i dont play on low settings and still get above what i and a lot consider the fps min in cod 125 fps . in cod its vitally important .

the highend 8 core will cost around £190-200, as for motherboards AM3+ boards are already on sale so look on ocuk for boards that you like.

So in theory any of the AM3+ boards will support bulldozer.

I've been building with Intel for last 14 years, and used to motherboards / chips being released at the same time.

The last AMD chip I owned was a 5x86 back in 1995 that used a Intel 486 pin layout

AM3+ is for Bulldozer so all AM3+ boards need to support Bulldozer to be an AM3+ board. Maybe you're getting confused between that and AM3(without the +) possibly supporting Bulldozer?

I'm very very likely going to buy a Bulldozer chip (the top one if it's under or around £200) an Asus Sabretooth and 16GB of RAM regardless of if it's better than Sandybridge really. I can't see a sandybridge setup being better value for money and even if BD is nothing specially, an octocore chip is going to be quite a bit better than my ageing Q6600 (I've been running it since 2007), so it's a win win for me really.
