AMD Bulldozer Finally!

ROFL - This thread has had it all! - From performance, marketing and through to jingles ;)

Problem I and probably every other person here on this forum has, is when we are turned to for help. A colleague at work said to me once, "I wish I knew a geek like you, to help me out"! - I couldn't stop laughing.

Reason I like to recommend the better product is not only for what price is suitable for them now, but what will last say about a couple of years (and be easier to support hence why I always recommend DELL lol). WE as techies can advise that (be that newbies, amateur or pro's) which is why 99% of people will turn to us first - and if we just say - Company A is the best - that's what the average person will follow. Comes back to us 'geeks' at the end of the day lol :)

yup, i dare say it won't get much better for the next 25 days either. should've called this thread AMD Bulldozer, finally. 25 day countdown or summat

not that i'm a geek or anythin

Ok, back on track:

llano
E2-3250 = 70$
A4-3350 = 80$
A6-3450 = 110$
A6-3450P = 130$
A6-3550 = 150$
A8-3550P = 170$

Bulldozer priced similar to sb.
FX4110 = 190$
FX6110 = 240$
FX8110 = 290$
FX8130P = 320$

PII's are expected to have 15-20% pricecut.
That's probably what they pay per 1000 units, retail will likely be more

Interesting that the FX4110 is priced just below the 2500, the FX6110 slightly above the 2500 and the 81x0 is more than a 2600k - hmmmm.

$290 = £180. Add on retailer profit and 20% VAT and we're looking at £265-£280 for an 8-core Bulldozer (assuming those numbers are accurate). That's quite a lot more than an i7-2600K and a hell of a lot more than an i5-2500K. They'd better be fast.

Where are those numbers from? The most expensive CPU AMD had out is only £160 (£150 this week ;) ) on OCUK. Those figures suggest £300 for the most expensive bulldozer, which seems very un-AMD

Taken from a quote on XS forums dude - EVERYTHING is just pure speculation at this time. £300 very un-AMD - I'll take it you didn't buy one of the last FX CPU's - I'll never forget dropping £600 on a CPU! - IF AMD take the crown over the 2600k's - they WILL charge more.

If the fastest Bulldozer CPUs are going to be around £300 then it is not that much for their highest end CPU. The highest end Intel consumer CPU is the Core i7 990X which is over £700.

I remember back in the 939 days when an FX-57 went for about £800 or so, really astronomical when all you got was an overclocked 4000+ with an unlocked multiplier. :D

Imagine the disappointment. :eek: My personal guess is the top models will be inbetween a 2500K and a 2600K and then Ivy Bridge'll come around and then Komodo'll come around and then... and then...

Yeah.

I read a comment in another thread in this forum that Bulldozer could probably lead to a price increase in the current Intel CPUs!! WTF??

I saw that too, but I'm not taking anybody's word for anything but AMD's own at this point. Before I see some proper unbiased, un-cluttered (integrated graphics in the same graph, anyone?) benchmarking, I'll keep it fairly shut. :D

I'm kinda hoping that wouldn't happen though, that means that the FX serious would probably be stupidly expensive too, and that's not what I want in an AMD. :o

I do hope AMD produce something special.

Their current CPUs are fine for any normal consumer.

I think that they start to lose out on transcoding against intel but that's minimal plus I don't think there are any transcoders able to utilise all the cores available, not entirely sure.

For gaming, on average judging by hardware review sites, it's 3-4 FPS here and there.

The one thing I'm excited about is - as far as I'm aware - that bulldozer is an entirely new architecture so further revisions we will hopefully see greater speed boosts to transcoding/gaming.
