AsRock have announced their super duper AM3+ (so super that they pee on ALL Am3 boards out there lol) - will have UEFI support.

TBH though - as much as I'd easily ditch my CH4 for a board that boots in millseconds instead of tens of seconds - its not going to happen for a while yet :(
 
I currently have an AM3 cpu, it is reported that AM3+ boards are backwards compatible with AM3 cpu's .

Some later AM3 boards are reportedly compatible with AM3+ cpu's, but I don't want to risk getting a board until 100% guaranteed to work on both AM3 and AM3+. I badly need a new board but not wanting to upgrade my cpu until next year so getting an AM3+ board is good investment for me.

Hopefully that clears up my above post.

Mainly waiting for gigabyte or asus board as i wont touch anything else. (Probably an asus this time as my current gigabyte is crap)

I would buy an AM3+ board tomorrow if they were available, seems strange they haven't been released yet.

maybe the same as they did with the am2's though. i remember buying a crosshair 1 and having to flash the bios, so it would take am2+ cpu's, so if the chip is classed as an am3+ then we might allready have all the boards out. But on the other hand, your right, with the release of a new chip, you would think they would release a new chipset board to go with it.

My god! Its like the same over and over again lol. Its not funny anymore.....

I do however agree as to why we havn't seen any new chipset motherboards yet - Simply using an old chipset with a new socket doesn't cut it. And after all AMD were supposed to be offering the 990 series boards as an upgrade path - i.e. Buy the board first (to go with existing AM3 CPU's) then buy the BD CPU later......

Seriously makes me wonder if them chipset issues mentioned a while ago are now holding true - Why anyone would want to deliver a new socket with an 'old' chipset is anyone's guess. hmmmm......
 
I currently have a 965be on an AM3 board. I have thought about getting a new chip when they come out. What features would i be likely to lose?
I will not bother if performance will be hit too much, as i'm not really that bothered about upgrading anyway:)
 
Does anyone know when bulldozer will actually be released? I looked on their website but could't see it. Might wait for bulldozer before building gaming pc. At the very least it should push down Intel prices . . .

AM3 launched on 790FX/GX etc...
 
I really can't decide if I should get Crosshair IV now and then just switch the processor over to a Zambezi when they're out, or get a really cheap board and upgrade both board and CPU. Decisions, decisions!
 
should wait tbh , not so long left , however i will first buy cpu on chIV then if chV justifys with its features i'll get that. saying that i have ch4 for a year now or so.
 
Not sure if there will be any, as most mATX boards are built with the 880G chipset which doesn't quite meet the standards of AM3+ at the moment. Don't quote me, I'm just struggling to google said lists at the moment. xD
