This is a thread in the Graphics Card section of the forums right? XD
All that aside, only goes to show what we can expect this year from AMD. They'll keep the CPU train rolling and not even bother with GPUs. I'm just glad I got a decent 980ti while the going was good. Unless they can fix their mistakes with a Vega refresh... but would anyone even be interested in that?
here's the roadmap photos / slides from CES for those that don't want to go hunting for them

If I could like this post I would!!This is a thread in the Graphics Card section of the forums right? XD
So no new desktop GPUs from AMD this year then. Not surprising. Their GPU division is in complete disarray.
Ooooh, maybe they can re-brand Polaris again. I'd love another £300 card with 290/390 performance. Yes, please.
It's quite clear - from that slide entitled "2018 Graphics Portfolio" that the only desktop GPUs for the year will be Vega 56 & 64.A bit of a strange post.
This means, that we will probably not see any other graphics update from AMD in the entirety of 2018.

Vega 7nm is for AI only.
AMD just don't have the resources to launch a new desktop GPU every year. Vega 56/64 has to last until Navi, going up against whatever nV will bring this year.
Poor Vega.
http://www.techsbay.com/amd-all-but-relinquishes-high-end-desktop-graphics-in-2018/Lots of assumptions. Maybe but probably fanboy TBH.
According to AMD’s most recently published graphics roadmap, 2018 is going to see a continuation of existing Vega 64 and Vega 56 graphics cards, with no new addition to the high-end desktop. Vega, which hasn’t been able to compete with NVIDIA’s GP102 based products like the GTX 1080 Ti, continues to be in short supply to date. What makes overall matters worse is that it will have to compete with a brand new roster of Volta products later this year.
And while the announcement of 7nm Vega has surprised some, we’ve known and reported about it in as early as January of last year. Sadly, 7nm Vega isn’t only meaningless for gamers because it’s strictly for the AI market, it will only be sampling this year and isn’t expected to see actual availability until 2019. So even if the company eventually decided to launch a gaming oriented version of this silicon, it won’t see the light of day until 2019.
Not really. We're just seeing what's right in front of our eyes.Assumptions based on assumptions. Like I said, maybe but probably fanboy hopes and dreams.

The "fanboy" reaction would be to ignore the obvious conclusion and pretend that the slide was "ambiguous", when it totally isn't. No new consumer GPU in 2018. They've spelled it out for you.
Assumption it is not. Just basic reading comprehension.
My hope was that AMD would release a better GPU in 2018. Failing that, that nV would.AMD have shown some slides off at a big trade show. Everything else is your opinions. Or maybe hopes.

It doesn't pay to delude yourself
Yeah you got me. Anyone that says anything about AMD that isn't gushing praise is not only wrong, but deluded and biased for nV. I've been unmasked! I actually sleep on a bed constructed of Titan Vs, have a life-sized JSH pillow that I sleep with, and accidentally his face on myThis with everything else I've quoted from you needs a special mention.

I no longer have any hope for AMD, and I'm not even sure nV are going to have anything but Pascal until Q3.
Why would I hope for AMD to suck? Because I like having fewer options? I'm not that petty. But I haven't had much hope for AMD for a long while. They are the masters of talking the talk then being unable to walk without falling flat on their faces. They are so cash starved that releasing anything is a major triumph for them.
It doesn't pay to delude yourself with unrealistic expectations, jigger. AMD will just disappoint you. Crush you with broken dreams
nV will fulfil your dreams... but at the cost of your soul, one of your kidneys, and your firstborn child. I prefer AMD when they're actually delivering.
