I'm not sure second hand prices are AMDs problem. They just want to sell more, faster chips. Every release cuts second hand prices. If 5700x is just a lower clocked version of the 5800x then i can see 2nd hand value of 5800x tank hard.
Maybe 5700x has cache cut down? May be just a 65w chip?
Do we actually have confirmation of these new CPUs are coming other than some random tweet by an unknown leaker? None of the big leak youtubers have mentioned this and there's been various rumours of these CPUs supposedly coming since Zen 3 launch.
Agreed. It's why I'm excited about it. Won't buy immediately, but will very likely buy after a few months, once the reviews are all in and prices stabilise. It's not BS. It gives a further upgrade path for those that don't want to goto the hassle and expense of changing the AM4 motherboard and avoid the additional expense of DDR5 which confers few benefits
Personally think it's a load of BS.
Can't see the point if AMD are releasing AM5 later in the year, I would have thought it would make better sense for them to put them into Eypc chips if they are selling well.
AM5 + Zen 4 + DDR5 is going to be an expensive combo.
These lower end Zen 3 parts will fill in the low end gap while AMD transitions to 5nm for their CPUs.
Once Zen 4 releases I expect AMD will EOL 5900X and 5950X, they may even EOL the 5800X3D but the lower tier parts will stick around to give people cheaper options.
These days i don't trust anything HUB say, it always seems to be driven by their own motives, a bit like MLID with Intel's GPU's, or really anything Intel.HUB disagree, they can see the reasons why AMD are saying end this year for AM5 - its to reduce early adopter tax for the DDR5 cost
AMD have confirmed they are coming in the spring (subject to cancellation if they are really as bad as you think of course ). Beyond rumours we don't know precisely when.Personally think it's a load of BS.

And that's the other argument. Also, Raptor Lake gets closer each week AMD delay.
It's starting to look like late spring, but we'll see. Will be interesting to see just how delayed Zen4 will be, as I doubt AMD will launch Zen3 refresh and Zen4 in less than 6 months of each other, would be a pointless excercise. This leaves Intel with huge price and performances advantages for too long IMO.
