AMD: FAQ for Project FreeSync is up

Nvidia brought about G-Sync for there own pockets and not for you. For all you know Nvidia knew the industry standard was coming at some point and decided to milk there customers. Either way am not really bothered. This Amd sitting letting others do there work is getting tiresome. Mantle, True Audio, and Eyefinity say other wise. Maybe it was a problem in the past but i don't think that is the case these days. AMD say they support industry standards and a more open approach which takes longer than Nvidia's in house approach no doubt. How long did it take for Nvidia to bring about surround gaming and Rroff will tell you they always had the tech to do so..

On both sides people need to be more patient as things happen really slow in the Graphic's industry. It's getting slower as well so more patience is required.

nVidia brought G-Sync for their own pockets and not for me? That is a bit of a contradiction when I have a G-Sync monitor ordered lol And to add, at less than the price of the original 4K monitor I purchased :p

You do realise that Mantle isn't an 'Open Standard'? Nothing about Mantle is open. True Audio I will use of course, as that is a good addition...Oh wait! Proprietary doesn't bother me but when people are not willing to see that both are doing it, I am afraid that leaves a bitter taste.

You know what i meant, if G-Sync was not going to sell cards and make money you would not have it. Mantle is in Beta and not out. Lets see where that goes before making any Judgements. Some things being Proprietary does not bother me either. G-Sync does not bother me in the slightest as there's a market for it at the moment which i think in the future will no longer be there.

So, the tech has been there for years or hasn't it? AMD can't say the techs been there for years, when it's not been implemented.

It's like steam streaming, the technology has been available for absolutely years, but it's only now it's a reality. So the fact it's been around for ages is absolutely moot.

The 7000 series do have the tech just for Video playback... for what AMD are having changed to allow in gaming needs a new chip on the Graphics card.

Do all Nvidia GPU's support Gsync? how far back does there support go? Honest question

I do like that fact that Mantle being done by AMD and not a 3rd party means they can change it and update it as much as they like. DX12 being controlled by Microsoft means it won't change quickly.

GSync being owned and controlled by Nvidia so they can change and update it quickly is bad because it propriety and this will be the death of it. Adaptive Sync, which is controlled by VESA and is now a standard that can't change (?) is the way forward...

No I actually didn't. You made it come across that G-Sync wasn't invented for me but was only for nVidia to make money (of which again I told you that the G-Sync monitor I have ordered was cheaper than the Samsung 4K monitor I had). We are all different of course and if something new and shiny takes my fancy, I will get it if funds allow. Now as far as Freesync goes, it would be cool if Warsam or someone else from AMD (LtMatt perhaps? :p) would let us know what state freesync is in and what monitors are upcoming which will be able to run freesync and what GPUs are capable of running freesync and when to expect the first freesync capable monitor or firmware upgrade.

Because Wasram doesn't get involved in Sid James type politics.:p

Maybe he shouldn't have started the thread then if he has no interest in giving any info or answering questions?

650Ti and newer will support G-Sync.

It would be good but Warsam is most likely only aloud to say so much. AMD seem to be good at keeping information from the press and the users. It's actually a pretty good tactic as it keeps people guessing and in doing so keeps Freesync alive in peoples minds as the guessing continues.

@Greg
Thanks, so even there back track isn't that much different to AMD.

Where in the OP did he say he will replay back here? if you read again you see

In addition, please post any questions you’d like answered here and we’ll update the FAQ accordingly. Thank you!

Except it is? Quite different. Over double the cards and cards that go years back.

AMD have what, the 290/290X/295/260/265?? (Could even be less than that?)

Yer maybe but I like to bank on solid info and know what I need to outlay prior to buying as money burns a hole in my pocket and I will go for something else instead.

Well for one, I have never said nVidia have good support for older cards (and I understand the business side of it).

Ahhh, so he hits and runs then :p

But what AMD was pointing out is that the Freesync tech as been around for year is still true. The 7000 series and past GPU's I believe support it. Only the Newer line up support it for gaming.

So if you ignore the gaming part, AMD freesync support is right on par with Gsync support.

Again though, if it has been around for years, why now have they only just got interested? Well to put it specifically, why since G-Sync was mentioned have AMD got interested?

G-Sync is available now and Freesync is chit chat with no solid info.... Do you think AMD might be trying to spoil nVidias G-Sync sales?

Also, where have you read that the 7000 series and before GPUs will support it? I couldn't find anything solid out at all (shocker).
