**AMD Fiji Thread**

Those digital storm benchmarks make the FuryX look like it's on to a winner if it's matching the Titan X at a much cheaper price and cooler temps.
Very conflicting leaks at the moment but not long to go and all will be revealed.

I am optimistic that it will be a positive outcome since there is no way that it will only be 10-15% faster than a 290X when AMD has said that they have achieved 1.5-2x the performance per watt compared to the 290X.

gcn does not clock well, I bet it's the same with fury. Fact is if it was such a beast overclocker why are AMD conservative with the clocks, they could have truly put the TX to bed with slightly higher clocks.

I think they are pushing it as it is at stock.

Locky, technically it has a cheaper EU price than a standard 980TI and you get much better cooling never mind comparing it to £650 oc versions. Once supply is sorted this card should be £500 to £525.

As to overclocking, all depends on the voltage unlock. The AMD Indian guy said the voerclocking is awesome on the Fury x, he didnt just mean 50Mhz...................

And yeah ubersonic, the 290x is already 10% faster than a 290x so no way will a furyx just match a 390x.

If it does, then massive fail on AMD part and nobody will buy a fury x when the same performance can be had from a 390x.

Its all about the price £500 £550 max they will have a winner £650 + forget about it ....but as always with super gouging tax + tax + import tax & obsession got to have it f@@k all in stock tax more like £650+

Will see... so if the price is right furyx.... if price is wrong 980 ti ...either way gfx manufactures and etailers still win as i think these gfx cards are still overpriced..... US prices are more realistic .....

And yes, OK it is watercooled. But so is the EVGA Hybrid, which OcUK states as coming in on the 26th. will be £650 and on these current benchmarks should perform better. People can talk about mature drivers, but the reality is I don't care. I want to buy the most powerful card I can afford and I want it as quickly as possible. I won't be basing a decision on what it might do in a few months time.

The digital storm benches pretty much match the original leak a few weeks ago of the Firestrike scores.

Can't really compare it against a custom 980ti board because this is the first vanilla iteration of the Fury. Even if it the Fury X chips can do the clock speeds, the power delivery on the board might not be quite up to it.

If this comes out at £550 & beats the ti, thats brilliant, since its going to lower the costs of the Ti's (then the 980s, then 970s etc) THEN maybe we will see the Fury Nano come in at an even nicer looking price.

It 1pm that we find out if it can overclock correct? But if it can overclock well, why didn't they push the speed up as stock and obliterate all current gen cards instead of just match then?

I can't really see them being great clockers. AMD are quite aggressive with the default clocks on their cards.

If it more or less gets parity with a 980ti on default clocks, then I will be content.

If it was just the TX as competition then the fury would look great in comparison but it's not, the ti is out and with more memory, similar pricing and great overclocking with no extra voltage. Enthusiasts are going to go green and they are the biggest sales at this end of the market.

I predicted an fury X price drop sooner rather then later after the initial buzz is over and the realization that the ti is the better card overall.

Nvidia are not in a position of being forced to do reactionary pricing, especially if the competing product just about matches theirs, with an identical price tag to boot. For AMD the situation would be unfortunate, since they probably can't drop the MSRP by a whole lot, yet theirs is a tough sell as Nvidia has much the better brand image.

I don't think they pushed it to the limit...otherwise it wouldn't OC +100mhz with stock voltage.
Yes GCN doesn't clock that high than Maxwell, but doesn't need to..for example 1500Mhz 970 = 1200MHz 290X

Again don't forget that the "stock" maxwells in the reviews clock around 1200ish mhz. So they have the same ~20% OC headroom compared to their "stock" results. If you can OC a Fury to 20-25% with some +voltage (which is easy with the AIO) then it is in the same ballpark again as the OC 980Ti/TX

If fury could take a 1200-1250mhz clocking 24/7 then the OC 980Tis cannot beat it. It only depends on the chip(but as it could do 1140-on stock volts its fairly doable), and needs the voltage unlocked. the temps will be fine with that cooler.

It's not likely you'll see many users running 1200-1250 daily clocks, couple this with most users don't actually overclock. It needs to contend well at stock frequency in order for it to get a head in the market, it's as simple as that. And it looks like it does to a good extent. But not enough to sway the overall majority.
