**AMD Fiji Thread**

wouldnt call hbm a flop, look at what its done with power and bandwith?

Its the only way Nvidia is going to build a monster card with 16gb hbm 2 ram on it. Otherwise 16gb of ggdr5 at 8ghx leaves so little power for the core.

Unless we start seeing cards with 4 8 pin connectors on them............

It's 6 phases not 16

beats tx in raw grunt for half the price, drivers will come, sounds like an AMD launch baby! same strategy with 290X. i have my moneh give me teh hunneh

I disagree ubersonic - power useage and noise of the FuryX are down , GTX 980Ti overclocked power useage is monstrous in comparison! G1 goes over 400w when overclocked

You missed my point, I'm not saying it's not good, I'm saying that people are wrong to be lauding the fact it's matching a Titan-X when the Titan X has already been usurped by a card that has roughly the same RRP as fury.

If it's matching the Titan-X then it's also losing to aftermarket 980ti's like the EVGA hybrid (the best Nvidia card to compare Fury-X to). Which means Fury is winning on price/performance, but I am disappointed because after all the hype I was hoping it would win on actual performance.

I am still hopeful for Fury and will wait to see how the MSI Fury Gaming ed turns out before deciding whether to go for that or the 980ti gaming :)

It's clear it was delayed after the Titan x came out because they knew they couldn't match that. And they wernt exactly singing from the hilltops about it either.
I'm expecting within a few % of 980ti at best but coming out on top in certain games/settings.

Comparing it against the titan is silly, as the 980-ti G1 gaming beats the titan anyway on pretty much all bench-marks (even a majority of over-clocked titans).

We are comparing it against a £630 card.

If it wins the performance crown or not depends entirely on it's ability to over-clock, for enthusiasts it's stock performance matters little, it's the max stable realistic over-clock which matters.

For example - Witcher 3 , 4k performance - at G1 gaming stock.

That's a 25% improvement over the reference ti & that's without overclocking the card, which you can add another 10% on that (by pushing 1500 on the core). It's a tough battle which requires an unlocked core & headroom to win on.

This is the benchmark I'll be comparing against.

As above, it should be compared to the G1. That's what I'm comparing it to given that I'm in the market to purchase.

That said, I'm comparing a £549 Fury X (excluding the price premium of today) to a £630 G1 so that monetary difference should equate to some sort of performance difference. Quite how much though?

If we get concrete information about overclocking potential - which we won't - that would be a big help in making a decision. I really want to end up buying a Fury X but if the performance against a G1 doesn't suit me, I have to go with the sensible option.

I seem to be in the exact same position as yourself tbh - g1 or furyX is what I've narrowed it down to - so lets see.

Out of interest, the GTX980TI is slightly cut down versus the Titan X but can boost higher??

I wonder, how the custom Fury cards will stack up to the Fury X?? Could be more of the same TBH.

Doubt it since the fury x has a much better cooler.
