**AMD Fiji Thread**

Whilst the Nano looks cool, it is a shame it isnt out till October.

Also, it is only the size that it has going for it really. To be fair to Nvidia, the 980 will have been out a year by the time the Nano comes out and already had 4gb ram, had a decent bit more performance than a 290x and had an even smaller TDP of 165w..so tech wise it seems a bit mundane.

Do we reckon all of the next gen cards (ie pascal) will be this small now due to HBM?

What a ridiculous post, the Nano proves that 980 performance is now available at half the size. If this isn't progress I don't know what is.

It's coupled with the fact there is barely any stock. People have been after 3 or 4pc which they're just not going to get unless they're at the ready and they won't have time to read anything.

AMD if you're reading this, thanks.

I think OCUK (and other etailers) should introduce a 1 or 2 card per customer policy in these cases.

The ITX 970 could likely be made on a full GM204 part if Nvidia wanted but your point still stands. I'm loving the smaller PCBs. Will make a few case labs builds seem slightly overkill when there are multiple cards present :o

Not a bad idea but won't happen lol

Then the question remains, how is the small size actually better or beneficial? A case can be made for ITX-builds but for your average gaming setup, I don't think we have been greatly (at all) limited by the size of the graphics cards.

I think ITX and small form factor builds are what the Nano is aimed at though. AMD probably don't expect gamers with ATX builds to go out and buy three Nanos. It's definitely something that interests me as HTPC card, excluding the HDMI debate.

Yeah, I have a Corsair carbide 540 Air. I bought it due to the fact 2x 290Xs in CF were having airflow problems. Even then the cards had to be undervolted to keep temps in check during summer months. Smaller cards like the Nano will be a game changer for Multi-GPU aircooled cards.

You are making an assumption that fits you and applying it to everyone. I see smaller GPUs as a benefit due to airflow and the ability to have smaller less intrusive cases.

Looks pretty thick in this shot.

As you noticed, I was asking a question, which you ended up answering in a suitably passive-aggressive manner. :)

It has been possible to fit high end graphics cards into ITX-cases for a long time now... Allowing for better airflow is an interesting point but I think the the real enabler is the low TDP, resulting in less heat produced regardless of the size of the card.

There are two people getting 4 each and i suspect been who they are, they will get 4 each as well.
