AMD FX Overclocking

Yeah its running low volts, the problem was the vrm and chip temps, ill get a 240, there's a cooler master one for about 75 that looks good

I want a bit my poke out of this cpu and I miss toying with it until AMD unveil the next gen

Put a fan on the back of the vrm's and the front to give it some air.

I would go for a h100i which is better, if you look online you can find refubished one's for cheaper.

I sorted VRMs with messing around with the air flow in the case although fitting a 240mm AIO might upset it but at the same time the CPU cooler wont be dumping hot air on them anymore so it might be improved, will just have to give it a go

I'll just get the cheapest AIO I can find, does it really have to be a 240mm though? I could really do with it being a 120mm it would make it much easier

Yes a 240mm is needed really, have a look at the link i posted and the person is using a fx 6300, plus the 8350 is a bit hotter.

Excellent thanks, 240mm it is then as 5ghz is my main goal

So is it always better to power the pump straight off the psu? Never heard that before I assumed a fan connection on the motherboard would supply all the power it needs

When i had my h100i ,i ran it off a fan header but not the cpu 1, on your board check to see if any off your fan headers run at 100%.

Yeah I'll be plugging the fans into the cpu header, there are definitely none controlled fan headers on my board so I'll be using one of those for the pump same as my H55 that I use on my 290x

Yeah I'm overthinking it I could just use a fan splitter and run them off the CPU header

I'm going to try and pick a new cooler up this weekend, my only concern now is I cant find one build on the internet of a Corsair 540 Air with a dual rad in the roof and a single rad as a rear exhaust which is making me think it might not fit

Depends on what cooler you get, some cone with a splitter.

For your case if you search your case plus watercooling, you may find some, or you could mount the 240 in the front.
