*** AMD GO WILD: VEGA 56 THE TRUE DEAL OF THE CENTURY AND IT JUST GOT BETTER!!!

Appologies, I didn't want to be one of those guys, jumping from post to post, asking the same questions and being a bit of a tyre kicker. I was scrambling for ansers to try and buy, as I have a rare few days off together and was hoping to buy a card for the weekend.

Thus far I am stuck on vakue and price point.
I see that Palit do a 2060 with what I need however quite expensive at £338.99 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pali...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-04m-pl.html

Vega 56 Asus do one at £359.99 but thats some £80+ mark up over the Sapphire

Or drop down to a RX580 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapp...ddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-37m-sp.html
This is £218.99 for the Sapphire Nitro

I asked in chat and was told that the Powercooler one at £179.99 didn't come with the free games. As I want the Division 2 the Sapphire Nitro is the only one that states free games.

I know Youtube and comparing on forums etc takes time so was looking for a quick answer on what other like-minded folk thought may be best option for me?
It's shame about the prices for the connection I need.

If I get the Rx580, thats not far off the price of the basic vega 56, so I wonder if it would be a silly buy based on that?
It's a shame monitors cost so much as if I start looking at that I lean towards a new build and increased costs again.
Sorry for all the confusion. Been some long nights and hard to think what best option is!?

....Thoughts people!?
Sorry if I came across like I was calling you out or anything like that (now that I read back what I wrote, it did came across a bit like that for that I apologise), I just want to explain as clearly as possible for you to make sure you know what your options are.

I can understand your situation, and any buyers would want to make sure they spend their hard earn cash wisely and make sure they don't make a mistake in their purchase.

There's no arguing that this card is amazing value, but for your use you would need to get an adaptor that might cost a bit. It is an definitely option to consider, as long as you factor in the extra cost of the adaptor. However just keep in mind that if the adaptor cannot work perfectly changing display port to dual-link DVI signal, you might end up in the situation of you have this card and can only do 60Hz max on your 120Hz monitor.

It's really down to you to decide would would be the best course of action to take. Also keep I mind what I said about display port to single link DVI adaptor is NOT the same as display port to dual-link DVI adaptor, so be careful if you do decide to go down the adaptor route.

I'm very tempted to go Vega 56 crossfire.

Must offer the absolute best price/performance available in some time.

But how bad is Crossfire really? I'm struggling to find a Vega 56 Crossfire review.

Depends. Some games support CF, some mGPU others who do not support at all (especially Vulkan based games) are using both cards through async compute with 110% scaling!!!! (Wolfenstein is a good example)

However it has greater game support than SLI these days, which rarely work.

I have a 120hz Samsung monitor with only dvi and hdmi input. What are my options with this card as seems like a great deal?

I had the same problem with my BenQ 144hz monitor. Had to cancel the order in the end having explored various options (none of which were optimal) to get it working. Ordered a RX 590 instead which is a reasonable step from my old 390X. If you need a card with DVI the Asus Vega 64 has one, but is quite a bit more expensive. Other than that your options are limited, seems a lot of cards don't have DVI anymore.

Thanks!

Another question. Will this drive a 34” 1440p UW at reasonable frames? Got a Samsung with FreeSync...

Cheers!
Yes.
My vega 64 does 4k at reasonable rates, for me, at high settings.
Used Witcher 3, ultra settings for my testing, 4k - usually 47-50+fps galloping through crowds etc, didn't dip below 40 (usually 43 lowest). 55fps if you're doing nowt.
You'll get similar-ish speed from a 56, undervolted. Higher fps at 1440p uw.

I was thinking same. There are some mGPU uses beyond gaming (check out ROCm) that I read into but it seems sparse with regard to documented support. They would double up as a handy miner when not being used. Not got the funds yet but with prices on offer it may not be too far off snapping another up.

Wow, £250 for a V56, Great job @Gibbo, I paid £350 for my Red dragon, Only consolation ive got is Samsung memory and a decent cooler, It undervolts and overclocks like a champ!
