AMD launches B550 motherboards

I have just seen the pricing for the ASUS Rog Strix B550-I Gaming mini ITX board at £226, I am very tempted as I want down size my current HTPC from a full size case to an ITX. The connectivity spec looks good with the 2.5G Lan and Wifi 6 onboard, display port and HDMI 2.1 outputs. Is anyone else looking at mini ITX options?

I am. Are there any ITX boards with 2x M.2 slots?

I would not be surprised with poor sales of B550 due to pricing, they may have to lower the price even more if sales don't pick up, corona virus hitting production and costs is one thing, but when they are too close to X570 boards pricing wise they are not doing themselves any favours.

We may see X570 sales pick up :), right now I'm very much leaning towards X570, I don't think pricing on B550 boards will be good enough to sway me.

Side note: I wonder how well the MSI B550 Tomahawk will do :) .
If they end up pricing the B550 in the right place it should do very well. If I were MSI wI would be making it the best value B550 board possible and aiming for the volume of budget-driven enthusiast sales. B550 Tomahawk for ~£120 and X570 Tomahaw for ~£200 would be a killer combo with no crossover to hurt sales. :)

As far as i can tell the fan makes absolutely no difference to the temperature on my x570 Taichi.

The SB temperature sits at approx 56C whether the fan is on or not. I just set a manual fan curve so the fan doesnt come on until the temperature goes over 65C, so far it hasnt come on a single time.

Probably already been asked (and i'll read the entire thread when i've got time).

Are any of these worth buying over a B450 Tomahawk considering the price? I plan to build a new computer this week.

I suspect the B550 Tomahawk is going to be £170 which will make the X570 at £220 worth the extra given the X570 Tomahawk has wifi.

B550 Strix-F is on preorder for £206, seems reasonable to me in comparison to X570-F which on sale is £250 ( normally £270-280). I think there will be some good deals for specific models.

Itx version for around £220 is still way cheaper than X570I for £280+

That means the Wifi version ie Asus Strix B550-F Gaming Wifi will be around £225 or so, E version ie Asus Strix B550-E Gaming will probably be up to £260 or £270, so good or bad pricing depending on model etc..

It actually lists F with wifi under specification, however name is not clear, so might be both  but yeah I'd agree for E to be around that price £260-280, which again would make it ~£50 cheaper than X570.

Not long now, one more day :D
