AMD launches B550 motherboards

I’ve got an email from Gigabyte about an Aorus press event coming up on the 30 April. Says something is coming, and the background pic looks like silhouettes of boards.

Reckon this could be the launch of their B550’s?

That VRM looks like one for Intel Chernobyl edition.

Two of those boards have 2 reinforced x16 length slots. Since B550 can't do split x8 x8 lanes, I'd say this is more likely new intel Z boards.

can someone explain what benefits the 550 would have over a 450 other than being able to support Zen 3?
I've a 3600 which has just arrived and I realllly want to build the PC up but if 550 will be out in a month I may wait, but then if there's no real benefit to my build (other than giving me options in the future) then I'll not bother waiting.

Other than support for Ryzen 4000 its got PCIE4 support for a single GPU and Single M.2 drive, maybe faster memory not sure on that yet

but is that actual launch or paper?
I can wait a month but if it's going to be another month then I'll prob just get a 450. the wait is killing me.

Flagship Master and Taichi can handle 3 X m.2 to match x579 but only one or two at price 4.0 level.

Vrm on the flagship are better then mid range x570 boards and nothing like b450

Aorus b550 master is 14 phases straight, no doublers to Vcore 50/55amps DrMos maybe

I was just about to get a micro-ATX B450 board for a Media PC (I was considering an ASUS TUF B450M-PRO GAMING and an Athlon 3000G), but I will now wait for the B550 boards to be released.
Hopefully, I will either get a B550 that is much better than a B450, or I might get a B450 at a knock-down price if they struggle to get rid of older inventory.
