AMD Launches Three Kaveri APU SKUs in February 2014 – Feature Set For A10 and A8 APUs Detailed

I'm pretty sure my laptop runs BF4 at around 30fps (certainly less than 50) on low and I play fine when it's not crashing.

I'm going to grab an MITX Kaveri set up (funds permitting) in the spring to act as a NAS/lightroom/gaming rig. BF4 is the most demanding thing I'll play and not having a dedicated GPU keeps the power consumption, noise, heat and potentially case size down.

I'm taking the pre-launch buzz with a pinch of salt but it seems perfect for my needs.

lol that slide shows nothing.

30fps, so unplayable then

Why try and pretend that an apu is aimed at AAA titles.

Show me another iGPU that can play BF4 on Medium settings @ 1080P.
30 FPS is playable, there are far more people playing on lower end GPU's and Game Consoles @ 30 FPS than there are people with £800+ rigs, they have no complaints.

So what are you saying Humbug ?

That low detail and 30FPS is all you need and folks buying separate GPU's are fools.

Think we're losing perspective slightly.

We're talking about an APU here, although I'd still probably put them at 720p, but you could get a Kaveri and comfortably have a 720p gamer.

However, the price, I'd sooner get an FX6300 and a discrete GPU second hand =/.

30 fps a console is fine when thats what it is made to run at.

30 fps average on PC when your dips will be into single figures feels awful. I know, check out my sig. I now run bf4 at 720 res. and everything off just to get it to run smooth (looks **** but I can live with that). Others might well be happy and its impressive that an iGPU can run it at all but 30fps is hardly a target especially for PC fps games hence the post.

oh and googled your pc elitist. Funny but no relevance to what's been said.

In a notebook on a 1368x 768. It'll truly shine and you wouldn't need a discreet gpu. It'll struggle the higher the res you go, are you basing that 30fps @1080p theory on the bf4 corridor demonstration, or real time single player/ multi player game performance?

People then say well it's only a budget apu and an all in one system. But it's also not cost effective when you compare adding a discreet gcard to a comparable performing budget system. So why not introduce this poor mans ddr3 apu for notebooks, and for the desktop scale up and introduce a mid ranged apu that isn't cost effective to seperate components, but can still provide 7750/7770 gddr5 performance in the apu in a mitx system.

Alleged AMD ‘Kaveri’ A10-7850K Cinebench R15 Benchmark Surfaces – Steamroller Performance Compared

Alleged Benchmark of the ”Kaveri” Flagship the A10-7850k have surfaced on the webs. The benchmark is a single image file and reveals the alleged performance of the Steamroller cores in Kaveri, ie. CPU Performance. Conveniently it is a Cinebench Bench (redundancy!) so we can see real life comparisons with other counterparts.

If those end up being the prices, then AMD are making the wrong move. Better to be a big fish in a smaller price bracket than a Kaveri APU in a standard price bracket. Shocking the media into reporting great value for money is what will net AMD the bulk buy business contracts and all they need to do that is to keep prices roughly the same and work on the kaveri release (no price change needed!).

They keep going on about but but but..... the i7 has 8 threads. well why not bench it against the i5?

Anyway, it looks like its running at 4.9Ghz, 547 is absolute junk at that speed.

Edit> or is it? i just double checked here its not bad actually, its as high as a 4.6Ghz FX-6300, 63% higher than the A10-5800K @ 4.6Ghz, normalise the speed and its about 55% faster clock for clock than Llano, surely not?

An A10 5800K at 3.8GHZ scores around 300 cb in the latest version of CB. An A10 7850K at the same clockspeed would score around 424 cb,which is around a 40% increase in IPC if the score is true.

It would also put the score around a Core i5 2400,if the A10 7850K is running at around 3.8GHZ,as it is rumoured to run at between 3.7GHZ to 4.0GHZ it seems.

Edit!!

It seems it might be fake.
