AMD Launches Three Kaveri APU SKUs in February 2014 – Feature Set For A10 and A8 APUs Detailed

I am getting the gist from forums that the 28NM bulk process AMD might be a bit of a fail. However, one could argue the warning signs were there with the lower than expected clockspeeds for Kaveri(if you look at earlier AMD estimations of the amount of GFLOPs it was meant to have). Lets hope, that at least power consumption has dropped.

I saw this on SA forums:

It seems the 2015 AMD server APU,aka,"Toronto" will integrate the FCH and will be compatible with DDR4(look at around the 8 minute mark). It seems Excavator will happen and it is DDR3/DDR4 compatible too. It looks like PD will still live on in the older server sockets.

Looks like a nice upgrade from Piledriver APU's, prob gonna pick up a 7850K at launch just to have a play with on Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H. Time to put the old 5800K out to pasture..

5% or so, meh... not even worth bothering with.

More like 10% to 15% in IPC MT improvements although the ST seems closer to around 5% or thereabouts. However, the improved compute performance of the GCN IGP is what is going to make Kaveri more interesting IMHO. VLIW4 and VLIW5 are quite weak in comparison.

Edit!!

CB is FPU heavy BTW,and AFAIK most of the improvements of the SR core are not in the FPU.

Wow... hang on. wPrime, Sandra and Supper PI are Floating Point performance, its what AMD have always been weak at. (Gaming)

Are those slides telling me Floating Point performance is up 25% clock for clock? its impressive if it is, and much much more acceptable performance full stop.

CineBench is integer performance, thats up a solid 10%, not bad. not bad at all.

I believe I talked about this optimism in 2012 ;):p

Also, I think you have it the other way round, Cinebench is Floating point as far as I'm aware.
