LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLadies and gentlemen, my names Paul......................................

Summing up the AMD portion, he's 80-90% sure it's not the top SKU from what his sources have been telling him, the one shown was a card with between 64-72CUs though not sure exactly. As for the Navi22/3070 competitor, some sources say next year, some say it'll launch close to N21.

I'll be very surprised if it is less than a 72 CU part (or equivalent if they've made any significant layout changes to the architecture vs RDNA1) - the performance uplift with any kind of reasonable estimates just doesn't support it.

The way he mentions 80-90% and waffles about his sources and whether they are the same or not sounds like he is BSing through his teeth though.

What's exclusive? Blatantly obvious marketing tactics and sheer common sense that you don't show your top GPU at a CPU event, thus rendering the entire dedicated GPU event pointless 3 weeks before it happens?

Yeah I think those that thought - well AMD need to show their hand otherwise all these 3080 orders wont get cancelled opinions are a bit short sited. You would be lucky if 25% of the pre-orders get cancelled (to switch brand) as many wont have the gumption to think AMD could offer them a similar experience.

What would make this chuckle worthy is if the 3080 20Gb does come out in December with high volumes of 3070/3060Ti stock and people are still glued into a queue for the original 3080's..

This Ampere launch could be a headliner at a comedy club.

There isn't really one guiding logic here - from a marketing perspective sandbagging is extremely risky and more likely to result in consumers committing to the competition if you underplay your hand.

It was a teaser with little real detail - we know nothing of specs, price or how it performs in a wider range of games or settings/resolution, etc. here is plenty for them to still show.

It was a Cpu launch not Gpu, last time they did both, reviewers moaned to much to do with both the Cpu and Cpu in such a short amount of time, and the Gpu part of the launch was over shadowed because of the hype of Zen.
