AMD on the road to recovery.

Sounds to me like Intel need a clear out of their senior management. From the outside it looks very much like they rested on their laurels while their competition caught up. I imagine the large shareholders have a few questions.

I'm really pleased to see AMD competing I just hope they can maintain their momentum. I like their attitude towards innovation and offering new technology with the minimum of restrictions. Such as more cores, unlocked chips, more pcie lanes etc.

Absolutely their delivering innovations that we haven’t seen the Athlon days, also with pricing so competitive and the majority of games being GPU bound their slight clock speed disadvantage isn’t really that much of an issue.

With making FreeSync available to all, they have played a master stroke, it’s already supported on the XBox One X and most lightly supported on next gen consoles and also Intel look set to adopt it for their discrete GPUs. Its made G-Sync and it’s £200-£300 modules just look anti-competitive.

Actually One S supports freesync 2 also :)

Maybe that's why AMD have been putting out such poor GPUs as she has to defer to her elders and doubly so for a male elder!
Once he's gone then all bets are off.

AMD have put out reasonable GPUs with the resources they’ve had, Vega 64 at £450 is a good buy and with FreeSync support would keep the majority of gamers happy.

It was clearly a joke but well done for defending the honour of AMD anyway; expect some Radeon branded red boxer shorts in the post and a signed photo of Lisa Su.

You make no sense..... When was the last time you looked at AMD GPUs performance? Especially on games that released this year, even some ancient Hawaii chips (290 not even X) beat contemporary NV ones like the 1060 6gb. And god forbid you don't go higher up the range. But I forgot. You are like some others, that non gameworks games by default favour AMD GPUs and so should be ignored...

I'd love to see a 290 beating a 1060 tbh, got any benches of this?

Assuming this is what you meant, they did not even test a 290. More fud from panos? Lets add that to the vault of other crap.
Last one was 4000mhz CL16 ram and 4.5ghz 2700x?? We're gonna have to start calling you wccftechos

Confused Shadow Brigade with Shadow Awakening.
however you can see the 390X there which is very mild (+50hz) overclock over the 290X. Something that even the 290 could do

I am contracting in Bristol, need to go home to get access to my PC where the links are stored. However a visit on Reddit you can find it if you are in so much need fir the 2700X overclock with the M7

Well hang on Gavin, i'm no advocate for AMD's current GPU's but the link you posted has the 390X beating the 6GB 1060 by 24%, that's a huge margin and yes the 390/X are just rebranded 290/X.

Not the first time hes spouted crap around here. The 2700x @ 4.5ghz was done using chilled water at 1.5v!? His actual stable was 4.3ghz @1.45v
The memory of 4000mhz was achieved using 1.65v!!? His game stable was 3733mhz CL16. Actual memory stress test stable (aida) was 3200 CL14
So what we saw was a suicide run, on what could be considered on a unicorn CPU; hardly representative of real world performance.

Whilst it is impressive the 390x is beating the 1060 in 1 game, the 290 and 390x do have their differences. ( 2,816 vs 2,560 processors. 176 vs 160 texture units.) Higher clock speeds etc etc. So not really the same card. But I do see what you mean.

SO whilst there is *some* truth in these claims, there are caveats that need explaining.

Counting 4.5Ghz ryzen + 4000mhz c16 the norm or achiveble easily with most system is like saying buying a random 8700k and overclock it to 5.5Ghz + 4000 c14 daily :P
