AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

Based oooon? Oh right, wild speculation.

well at the very least it should be better than 390 with 28 fps, conservative estimate of it being under 390x with 31fps (althought it could be more efficient), so 30fps seem to be a safe guess.
in a world where it's rainbow all over, polaris could be around 35fps, but i think it's better to always shoot for the minimum, to manage expectations.
beside 30fps at 4k on a game released couple weeks ago, for a 165£ card, thats really good...if it's true :D cuz as you said im just guessing !

I mean, 30-35fps, not much of a difference either way. If you're only running 35fps average, you're much better off locking down to 30.

Dont know what you're getting defensive about. At 4k and max settings, that's nothing to shrug off.

As a % that's quite a lot.

Also, apologies, didn't mean to come across as defensive. It just tickles me to see semi-exact figures quoted when we don't really know anything.

I guess from the info we have so far about the 480 being in 390/980 territory the estimate reflects this and is fair based on that information (leaks etc~)

Ok so now its starting to make sense.

Very overclocked Titan-X @ 1440P, all High with 8x AA = 38.8 FPS

Average FR 38.6, GPU TitanX @1386/2005, Normal FR 44.6, Medium FR 38.6, Heavy FR 33.9, CPU 3930k @4.2

Stock 480 @ 1440P, all High with 4x AA = 40 FPS

So its not Apples vs Apples.

I don't know what difference 4x vs 8x AA is but the TX is overclocked for benching while the 480 is at stock and scores about 5% higher.

I would still argue that despite 4x AA vs 8x given that the TX is overclocked and still slower its a very good showing from the 480.

Can someone with a 980TI please run this at 4x AA?

Edit: just spotted this
Average FR 46.8, GPU TitanX @1443/1778, Normal FR 54.9, Medium FR 47.2, Heavy FR 40.6, CPU 5930k @4.5
Greg your not the fastest :P

if someone runs the same settings as the 480 we have its relative performance.

I thought the AMD demo was 1080p

Obviously not, AOTS servers clearly state 1440P.
AMD slide said nothing about resolution, nor did Raja, people just assume 1080P.

like everything else in this whole saga assumption becomes fact and then when the facts surface they confuse people because the assumption has become the fact.

The fudzilla article linked to earlier said 1080p on a chart showing the settings used for both cards.

Look back through my posting today and you will see I ran the test at the same settings as used by the 480. It ended up as 37% slower than my Titan X.

With 8x AA.

Well, the run i'm talking about was done at 1440P with 4x AA and scored 40 FPS.

Thats the only one we have with a single GPU so lets stick to that one.

I'm trying to cut through all the crap, lets not confuse it again, thats what AMD did, thats what i'm trying to avoid.

We have a one card bench and we know its game settings, thats what we need to stick with.

Gregster has already done it with the settings used in the slide.:p
