AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

If the test isn't cpu bound and we are all using AMD gpu's then why are the 390's are getting scores equal to overclocked 290x's and Fury's/.

I get a graphics score of 18360 with a msi 390 at 1080 core clock.

That would put the rx480 at under £200, £70 cheaper with more or less the same performance.

Not bad.

That score is higher than the Fury score posted earlier and higher than my overclocked 290X. Very strange.
Can you post a link to the 3dmark result?

It was 20683. CPU holds back the overall score a fair bit in this particular bench then. :)

blimey...

shows how quick stuff is getting. this my system with my cards pretty well clocked! old girl does well but slowly showing her age

would be very tempted by a pair of 480s if the price really is true for UK

Interesting results. Final one for me to compare. As close to furyx as I can get with half shaders unlocked and overclock on. So probably a baw hair behind.

19260 gpu.

I'm still confused about the 390s. If it wasn't for that everything would make perfect sense. There just doesn't seem to be much spread in this test. Someone give us the answer!

Edit: http://videocardz.com/60253/amd-radeon-r9-480-3dmark11-benchmarks How come this website is perfectly inline with my results and even Gregsters TitanX is close enough to that score but the 390x there is way below the 390 we tested today.

Wow amazing score for 2x 7950.

Looked through many forums, many were very disappointed with RX 480 performance. It seemed RX 480 will be aiming at R9 380 owners to upgrade for a nice performance increase around GTX 970/980 and R9 390/390X level.

Accorded to Eurogamer that GTX 1060 will be RX 480 competitor.

Funny you should say that as I have witnessed the exact opposite.
There is an overall positive response to the 480.
Reddit AMD was trending massively yesterday. That's a global audience wanting to know more about a great price/performance card that's affordable.
Word has gotten out and I reckon AMD will do very well this this GPU.

Just take a look at the response on the comments section of the Eurogamer link included in your post. Extremely positive reactions to the AMD RX480 from most people there.

It should work. You can try it now in the Steam VR performance test with -multigpu switch added to launch options.

The system is called Affinity Multi-GPU (one gpu per eye) and is part of Liquid VR.

thanks very much for that, just done the test, looks like im good to go if ever i decide to.

You should know AthlonXP by now. A troll trying to play down the 480 anticipation.

This is my stock Titan X and 3930K at 4.4Ghz

Not bad at all for the 480

33% faster than the 480.

Something people should know, the 390X is not an exact clone of the 290X

The 390X is built on a more mature node and there is a change to the BIOS, for example the memory runs on tighter timings.

There is actually a small performance difference between them, its not much at all but the 39#/X series is slightly faster than the 29#/X series.

Are you people amazed that the performance difference between your 2/390/X - 970/80 and a 980TI or TX is not massive?

:P
