AMD Polaris architecture – GCN 4.0

Why are you ending your posts with this crap? Do you work for AMD or are you just trying to show off your AMD colours?

It's just as stupid as ending every post with....

nVidia. The Way It's Meant To Be Played

(which I'm not going to do because it would be ******* stupid)

i think he was making a joke about polaris slides that says something about stars being bright and efficient n stuff.
do you hate AMD that much or you are just always this grumpy :p .

If I hated AMD I wouldn't be planning to buy Zen next year or replace my 280X with a Polaris card asap.

Depending, of course, on how they perform and how much they cost.

Neither do I dislike nV, btw. I just take issue with the amount of fanboy drivel that comes out of the mouths of certain posters.

Esp people who insist that if you say anything bad about AMD, you must be biased against them. Or you have shares in nV or some crap.

People here become so irrationally defensive about one brand or another. It contributes nothing, it just gets in the way of having any sort of discussion, because in all these threads you have to wade through so much butthurt fanboy nonsense.

I often wish the mods would nuke this subsection from orbit, tbh.

:D

It's a two way street, same can be said, if you so much as hint anything off at the other mob you can get steamrolled too, should everyone hold their tongue in disagreement?

The forum earns the core business coin, if it didn't it wouldn't be here and it wouldn't generate much traffic if everyone agreed.

Look it up then, are your G skills that rubbish?

1. www.google.com

2. Type 'Amd Polaris' into the search bar and press enter

It's simple stuff, but to save you the bother, it reduces current gpu power consumption substantially, but apparently it wasn't important then important if you run Nvidia, swap it round for AMD.

Are you saying I couldn't have Googled everything in this thread and a lot of the others on this forum?
If I could've then by your logic there's no need to post it here.

I bet I'd get some rude responses if I went in to threads and post "Pointless thread I could've googled this info. Please don't post anything here I can google"

Worst situation is if you own both AMD and NVidia hardware. If you are honest in that situation you criticise both brands as they both have faults then everyone else who uses just AMD or NVidia hates you and calls you biased lol.

Yeah, you're not allowed to criticise a vendor, especially if you own products by that vendor.

Think your the only one here who actually owns both, Kaap (titanx/furyx).

That's why many people value your opinion about both vendors.

Out of curiosity, do you have both setups in matching rigs? As in 2x5960x/x99 rigs for the 4xtitanx/4xfury x setups? :D

Given how slow progress has been in recent years in the PC business I'm glad to see any improvement by anyone. I'd like to upgrade to a Zen/Polaris setup just because I prefer the way AMD do business but come the end of the year if Intel and Nvidia are significantly ahead I'll happily buy their kit.

Lets not exaggerate now, not everyone around here does.

It ain't that important to most.

He never said they do, but agreed most don't.

Are you saying

You not worked it out that I don't entertain your reoccurring 'Are you saying...' posts?

Your welcome btw.:p

You get it because you have too many gpus and people don't see you taking the **** out of both of them, have noticed you getting swarmed more these days than usual, I'm sure you know the ones;)

My situation is junking one of them because of the joke that is GW's, locking myself into the other one and getting called a flag waver/fanboi for the one I junked.:D

If you take processors into account then I also have products from both sides. For the last so many years Intels iseries processors have been the best and AMDs have dropped off the pace. Before that I was AMD processor all the way as they had a fantastic run of brilliant processors for gaming. They got complacent and Intel stole the lead. Intel seem to be getting complacent at the moment and even though the Skylake is a good processor it hasnt made massive leaps and bounds, most likely due to lack of competition from AMD. I hope that Zen is the beginning of a new era in great processors for AMD as a new Mobo, Processor and Ram are my next upgrade. As for GPU's (This is the GPU thread afterall) I am currently on a Fury Tri-X which is a great card and probably the best of the Fiji line IMHO. If you look at all the benches out there you will notice how far the Fiji cards have narrowed the gap between themselves and the 980/980Ti/Titan X etc... to the point where I just don't take all this Maxwell is so much better guff all the time. To me they are now pretty much neck and neck depending on which games you run and at what resolutions etc... 2016 is the new battleground but with VR it will open up another arena which I hope both Nvidia and AMD can compete and succeed. It's an extremely exciting time ahead for PC Games, VR and both AMD and Nvidia.

Yes, we do argue amongst ourselves and go over the top on the odd occasion, but it's so easy to do when your hidden behind the internet and have a passion for your card vendor (Yes it sounds really weird when you look at it written in black and white, but I guess we all have a bit of that in us down deep).

I have just got to the point where I cant even remember where I am going with this so I think I'll end it there. :p

Blimey, I guess this is what happens when you get old....LOL.

Oh yeah, that was it.......At least there will be lots of interesting and exciting things for us to have arguemen....errr discussions about instead of continuously regurgitating the same old rubbish over the same old 28nm architecture.

Not entirely sure all that was worth it to be honest but, phew....got there in the end. :D

I'm going for a little lie down now to think about saving for a VR headset...whichever one it will be.....Bugger...another decision to be made...it don't get any easier that's for sure. ;)

it still tickles me after all the conversations we've had that you actually did that
it almost forgives all the stuff you used to say about AMD

OK, so let's clarify. You have to own both /at the same time/ to not be a biased fanboy?

So if this was my GPU history:

R900, R960XT, GTX7800, GT8800, GTX460, R7850, R280X

Then that means I was an AMD fanboy when I owned AMD cards (grr nVidia scum!) and was an nV fanboy when I owned nV cards (grr AMD infidels!)

This way of thinking is sadly actually a thing here.

I like talking smack about both sides, since neither are exactly the people's champion at this point in time. They are both dirty little ***** in my current estimation :p

The only thing worse than fanboi wars are the endless posts where people reel off their GPU history and tell us how unbiased they are.

It's such a common post you can even call it a TROPE of OcUK forums.

Seeing as every trope needs a fancy name, I shall call it: Sic Semper Bore-annis

Don't see how it's worse, tbh. Unless you don't blieve we are unbiased, and dislike the idea that unbiased people could attack your most favouritist GPU vendor/ object of your affection? :p

It's more like if someone keeps repeating that they are not biased every chance they get, the chances are they are infact very biased but want to hide the fact.

It's ok, it was rhetorical, I know that's what you were saying.

The old "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" approach :)
