You are hardly going to tell investors "uh we are ******"(nto saying it is true).
Wasn't there a lawsuit against AMD for doing just that about how they mislead investors previously on CPUs?

Lol I'm not going to make the mistake 5 time in a row. Anyway irrespective of my opinion, AMD couldn't touch Nvidia cards, both stock and overclocked. Don't even get me started on Crossfire.
I believe that was about some guy trying to sue for what the definition of a CPU was. But TBH, there is no set definition of what makes a CPU.
Heck, in the early 90's we had a comaths processor which was essentially the FPU as a seperate chip from the main X86 cpu.

I understand, but one card dying is hardly conclusive, but the COUNTLESS reports of AMD cards Overheating and dying is proven.

Probably still on-going, as these things take years and this was back in 2014.
Well to everybody saying "they couldn't possibly have mucked up Polaris"... remember what they've released recently. Since the 78xx and 79xx series, AMD have done nothing but underwhelm.
Mostly recently Fiji was considered by most here to be "meh" personified. With it's amazing 4GB VRAM and massive overclocking headroom.
Before that Hawaii was OK but not ground-breaking, and let's not forget *they only managed to launch two new cards* for the last two generations - the entirety of the non-Fiji 300 series being rebrands. Oh, and the entire 200 series as well apart from Hawaii.
And the amazing Tonga cards which launched at the exact same price/perf as the cards they replaced. Remember the big fanfaire before the 285 launched? And how utterly disappointed we all were with it? On par with the 280X (or slightly worse), priced like the 280X, and absolutely nothing to write home about.
Listen, if AMD are only as good as their last release, then AMD absolutey *can* mess this up big time. Fiji was a mistake by and large.
Being cautiously optimistic is fine most of the time, but this is AMD we're talking about...

I also believe it breaks a number of laws so not sure she would go down that road....

The original rumour was that the cards aren't passing a full set of validation tests at speeds above 850MHz (which is the highest clock speed AMD have shown off so far). Though it probably isn't true that cards from current gen can manage it has little bearing as it is a completely different process with different voltage levels, transistor design, etc. so it isn't infeasible though unlikely.
So you would rather trust some bloke making a video in a zoo over what the AMD CEO has told investors and the press for the last few months.
I might as well say according to my secret sources Polaris is actually powered by a wormhole device connected to the Polaris star and will actually power your home as well as your computer meaning it pays to buy a Polaris card.
Polaris also has advanced AI subroutines meaning it will make you a cuppa after a long gaming session.
No card from their current generation is being fabbed on the new 14nm process, so it is utterly irreverent what the old GPUs can or can't do.
Not that I think the rumours have much credibility but your logic is utterly wrong.
But but but...Greg's logic!
