AMD® Phenom™ II Overclocking Thread

stanton4958, what do you get for CPU temp when you run HW monitor for example. Core temps for me is within 48-49 degrees

hope this helps mate if you have any more probs let me no ;)

Thanks you very much!

Now I'm pretty sure I have a funny CPU sensor. While core temps never pass 50 C at 1.4v, the TMPIN1 goes up to 62 degrees, in everest this is described as CPU temperature. I guess I have nothing to worry about?

try and put your cpu v down to 1.3250 v then your never go past 40/41c:)just remberd that my tmpin1 hit 86c 1nc so dont wory about it mate

Jesus, Big Wayne is going to have a fit with all these quotes!

On a sensible note

I have a 1090T sitting here boxed I cant yet bring myself to opening it to try as I doubt ill see much of an improvement in what i use over my 555be @ x4?

I doubt you'll see much difference but they seem to happily clock to 4GHZ so it entirely depends what yours currently is at.

It depends what you are doing.

If you are doing something that is cpu limited such as transcoding then you will see a difference between 3.6 and 3.8 but if you are doing something that is hard drive or graphics limited then you wont.

Doing my first ever overclock at the moment and would appreciate some guidance.

I unlocked my 550 BE to 4 cores and it's running at 3.2Ghz at the moment as I upped the multi to x16 with fsb 200Mhz. Temps on idle around 30 and 47 max on load - are these okay?

The CPU voltage in CPU-Z is changing a lot between 1.280 and 1.3 (I havent changed any voltage settings) should it be doing that?

Does anyone have any suggestions on what clock speed I should be looking to reach and which temps to aim for?

Also, should I do anything with the RAM settings? CPU-Z says my "Channels #" is Single however I have both ram chips set up in the dual channel slots of my mobo.

Thanks.

hi guys - finally got a super stable OC on my 1090T which I thought to add to this thread as the other one is mainly about people learning how to OC these X6's.

compared to my 965BE which was previously running 200x18=3.8 @ 1.45v this thuban runs 200x20=4Ghz @ 1.42v. oh and thats with 4 x 2Gb DDR1600 memory and 2400 on the CPU/NB

I could prob push more on the CPU-NB side of things but I'm happy now. Just thought I'd say thanks as most of what I learn't about OC-ing these Phenom II's was from this thread, especially to big wayne for collating all this info together and bearing with me. x :>

Thanks.

I have fixed the dual channel issue. Can anyone give me some help with the rest? :)

Thanks.
