Thats what am guessing too, it goes up gradually to about 55 after about 3 hours of prime testing.

This is the absolute best I can get at 1.5v. Temps stay under 50c. This chip will do 4.0 hgz @ 1.55v but as soon as you clock the northbridge it fails.
Need better ram and water cooling to hit 4g, but this seems a nice 24/7 speed, especially as this was supposed to be a dual core

I'm not 100% what base chip you have? . . . is that a AMD® Athlon™ II Propus with *unlocked* cache to a full Deneb? if so nice one!, good seven hours Prime95 stability testing there . . .can I ask if possible you clump your windows a bit closer together and see if you can get the image dimension reduced a tad (for the laptop users!), many thanks and keep up the good work!

Looks like your really flying off now, good work there! . . . from your BIOS photos it looks like you are still running an early BIOS revision, have a check and if so get your BIOS updated to the latest one and you will get a few more options appearing in the overclocking section, I think 1.3v is fine for the CPU-NB and as already been pointed out the CPU-NB is built into the CPU and not the separate Northbridge on the motherboard, I think as you boost the CPU-NB volts the cache on the processor will get hotter so keep an eye on temps if possible . . . . look forward to any more stability screens you can produce!

for what you paid for it I think you've done well, nice to also see a 300 HT Ref . . . I didn't managed to get past 267 myself so good work there. I think it will be a good idea to keep mentioning or including with the screenshot that it's a AMD® Athlon™ X2 5000+ as some bargain hunters may be severely tempted to also go the affordable quad route! . . . good luck with the Priming!

Welcome to the thread and I see you produced some nice results already! so you bought a AMD® Phenom™ II X2 550 unlocked it to a quad-core! nice! . . . as has already been pointed out you lose the ability to monitor certain cores once they are unlocked, I was gonna suggest you maybe start your overclocking with the chip locked and running as a vanilla dual core but I can see you already done that! . . . Once you figured out how the chip performs as a dual and monitor temps/volts etc you will be in a much better position to get it unlocked and overclocked, look forward to your stability tests! . . . Couple of thread pointers, can I suggest you show a couple of CPU-z in your screenies, group your windows a bit tighter, leave prime95 for a few hours before taking a screen grab, most importantly don't forget your name somewhere in the screenie, all info you need is in the Welcoming Post . .

Welcome to the thread! . . . Look forward to your results . . .how many extra cores were you able to unlock? . . . did you get the full quad? . . . If your new to clocking then it may be an idea to start off clocking the chip as a dual core and then once you feel comfortable with the process you can unlock and get some quad-core action going on, you should be alright starting off with the stock cooler and a dual core but I imagine to get the best from the chip *unlocked* an upgraded cooler may be handy for keeping the added load temps reasonable . . . need to know anyting more then ask away!

Heh you lucked out with your AMD® Phenom™ II x2 (which exact model do you have btw?) . . . all the cores unlocked and stable at 3.0GHz, good start. If it's true you have a non black edition then your gonna have to clock old-school style using the HT ref. Clock which should see you good up to 267MHz . . . that combined with the 15x multi could see results in theory up to 4005MHz (15x276) so good luck with the clocking! . . your gonna need to pay attention to the CPU-NB/HT Link & Memory Divider!

Still will be interested to see some CineBench 10 results as well as some Everest results . . .curious to see what kinda low latancy you guys are geting with your fast DDR3 set-ups!
Not sure if anyone is interested but there may be some AMD® freebies up for grabs @ Promotions from AMD® Underground . . .
I also emailed AMD® and asked them if they got any spare AMD® Merchandise for everyone who contributes to this thread and they said they will have a look and get back to me, don't get your hopes up too much as it may be something small like a pen, sticker etc

I'm pretty sure that it's not the chip that's holding me back here (well - aside from that 11x multi...). Never managed to sort out inconsistent POSTing over 300 HT ref and I'm convinced it's either the RAM or the motherboard holding me back. There's an outside chance it's the IMC I suppose.
Still 300x11 with 1800NB and 1800HT with DDR2 600 (equivalent) definitely seems good to go for 24/7 (without CnQ). I can benchmark with higher NB, HT and RAM but if it's subjected to something really stressful (say 3DMark06 and Prime95 looping at the same time) it falls over eventually. Still - I can't complain: I reckon this is unlocked, overclocked Athlon X2 5000+ is about on par with a stock Phenom II x4 955.
Before buying the chip, 3.3GHz and quad was my 'aspirational target' (although I say never buy a chip because you need it to unlock). I've heard of people taking this board to 318 HT Ref with DDR3 but I think 300 may be the DDR2 limit (it has 2 memory subsystems with a different BIOS for each one). Unfortunately the CPU doesn't support DDR3.

Even when my 5000 is unlocked to quad and S&M stable I seem to have this issue where I get no display when I restart the computer or when I power up after shut down.
Thought it might be due to a dodgy core so I'm currently running it at tri core, results:

Hamoodii - I would advise increasing the multiplier on your CPU-NB a notch. I found my frequency wasn't stable much below 1800 but it's fine in the 1800 - 2100 range . You may need to bump up CPU-NB voltage slightly to achieve this.
If the CPU-NB is too slow, errata are introduced and you get instability. I found that I couldn't boot consistently until I'd done mine - but once I was in Windows it was Prime stable. Stock on AM2+ phenom IIs is 1800. Stock on AM3 Phenom IIs is 2000.
Oh and turn of Cool and Quiet if you're using it. It messes with the voltages.
Edit: with a bump in CPU-NB voltage you might find you can drop vCore a little.

ACC to get quad is a fickle thing on this chip, was able to boot-up fine and run S&M stable on 100% long setting @2.8ghz but I would still get no display after a restart or a power up. Now I can't seem to boot up with quad on lower settings, I might try again in a bit though.

i figured out which tmpin monitored which chip by turning off all case fans, and running cpu fan as slow as possible to get temps up a bit.
i the held an 80mm fan over cpu heatsink, northbridge and southbridge in turn for about 5 mins, and noted which temperature dropped.
simple, but it works.
now if only i could figure out what tmpin4 is ... -292.C (and its not anything to do with the buggered unlocked cpu probes)

Yeah, Heka core - 720 BE. I can't unlock the extra core I'm afraid: the rig just plain won't post, which is mildly disappointing, but only mildly! I bought it as an upgrade from a 939 dual core (and got it new for a lot cheaper than it seems to be going for at the moment!) and it pretty much chews through everything I throw at it
The box is my regular desktop running sabayon linux and it's used for all the normal stuff: pr0n,^H^H^H^H^H surfing, gaming (both native and using wine), etc. It's a bit cluttered with terminals there, but you can see prime95 (left hand side), whilst showing the clock speed from /proc/cpuinfo (middle), getting a screen cap (right, top) and watching the thermal zones using lm_sensors (right middle). Of course, I'm sure that most of that could be in some nice guis.... but there's no point in me installing them, as I can't "validate" my oc without windows anyway
That previous screenie was using the e17 window manager, here's my current using Openbox - even if it is just to prove that linux is just a bunch of terminals =D
If I can find some time, I'll get some screenies @ 3.9 (and possibly above)
I know some of you have been dropping HT link speed right down when aiming for higher clocks. I've even heard the term 'it has no effect on performance'.
Well, while searching for 100% stability with an overclocked NB, I had a play with mine and noticed the following.
With CPU @ 3.3GHz, NB @ 2.4GHz, RAM @ DDR2 800 CAS6, Stock HD4850 512MB I got the following 3dMark06 results:
HT Link @ 1200 = 13800 (ish)
HT Link @ 1500 = 13900 (ish)
HT Link @ 1800 = 14000 (ish)
So there's clearly an effect. I don't think we'll see it in many synthetics but for anything that loads the PCI-E bus the effect is real.

Anyone else with S&M fancy running it with a Phenom II? My load temps are rarely more than 50°C in practically everything but S&M MMX/SSE test pushes it up to 54°.
Just wanted to see if that test going so much higher than the usual Prime temps etc was normal.
