AMD® Phenom™ II X6 and Intel® Core™ i7 Debate

Agreed on Core i7.

Just wondering, where did you get £60 mobo with 890 chipset from? Is £60 a special number that is randomly appearing in this thread? I complained about it regarding one of Big Wayne's posts, I'm complaining (or rather looking for an explanation) now too :p

biostar TA890GGE £60 look it up :)

edit...just looked at prices seems i got myself a bargain, i did get it as soon as it was released perhaps people have noticed :)

And that will clock a 1055 to 4ghz?

got a link?

where did i say it would clock anything??????

don't start sniping at me for no reason :(

i cant hotlink to another forum but it has been done, i bought the 1090 so i wouldn't have to worry about it, the highest ive had the bus upto is 240 which wouldn't get a 1055T upto 4ghz.

Hang on a minute it was a genuine question. Not a snipe:eek:

Fair enough just seen how this thread has progressed and didn't want to get involved ;)

i will PM you a link if you really want to see it, but it has been done, i suspect it was a cherry board as most reviews cant get past 250.

I'm not hugged out yet,

This fish aint biting :D

Its clear some people just do not read post's and understand them in the right context.:p

Sorry did someone just ask me a question? I could have sworn I heard something?

Oops no, my mistake it was just someone talking to themselves in a geordie accent

help me hit 4ghz please with my 10666 ram and artic cooler 7

im not a geordie either just live here i do not speak with a geordie accent :P im from the midlands

The cheapest I found was Biostar TA890GXE £75 (delivered)?

snip[/IMG]

i got it for £62 delivered a couple of months ago from a not so well known e-tailer (i wanted the board, matx 890 chipset not ASUS, and had to really dig to get it and this company was the only one with stock)

anyway back to the OP buy a 920 (160 quid if you shop around), the cheap asus board from here and you have a clear winner...yes its worth the extra, i seem to be the only person who has owned both and im clearly not a fanboi as my current main setup is an X6.

In fact my I7 at 3.6 beats the 1090T at 4ghz (nb/ht 2500) in 90% of the benches i have run.

the main problem i see with this thread is using 1 shops prices to do a comparison as only some things are cheap on OCuk, savings can be had on both set ups.

I appear to be telling lies, as the link I thought i could source no longer exists.... : \ As in the page no longer exists!! Theres a link going there BUT ITS GONE.

So instead of me trawling through this thread, say instead of buying a Q9550 or the like for my old system. What out of the below is the best bang for buck in real life?

Phenom 1090
Intel i7 860
Intel i7 930

And as a side note, what have decent M-ATX motherboards along the lines of the Asus Maximus Gene II type?
