AMD R9 290 (Non-X, Pro, etc) Owners Club

It's just BF4 not the whole PC. PC is completely fine. I can load straight back into the game after a crash.

Just a standard BF4 has stopped responding error... In game the game freezes then crashes. There's no visual artifacts at all in game. It runs perfectly up until the crash.

That's Battlefield, must wait for them to fix it.

The only time i get crashing (or rather freezing) is in BF4 DX or Mantle; 'Mantle more than DX' only if i run a CPU / RAM overclock beyond a certain point, so i run 4.5Ghz instead of 4.6Ghz and a little more volts that it otherwise needs.
It is true that for anything else i can run 4.6Ghz.

I have not had one crash in BF4 since doing that.
Aside from a few seconds worth a few days ago (An uncharacteristic little blip) i also don't get any stuttering or Slowdowns (Memory leaks)

There is something about BF4 that demands a higher level of stability than anything else.

Hardware produces misses and errors, the higher clocked they are the more misses and errors they produce, software tolerates a certain level of misses and errors, this is true for CPU's and GPU's, you can game all day perfectly at what seems 100% stable, but put that GPU on OCCT with error checking and it may clock up 10,000 errors in less than 5 minutes of running. its not actually properly Stable.

It seems to me at least, that BF4 has a very low tolerance for instability.

BF4 crashing is across the board. Both AMD and Nvidia users are getting poor performance and crashing.
Battlelog is full of it.

CTE is from what I read running great, nice performance and crash free. If you have good internet speed and space give that ago. or wait for Patch in September.

I wouldn't waste your time downloading it or the 30gb of space it requires, true it runs better, but its unprotected and full cheats.

I'm 100% stable. My CPU OC is at 4.4 GHz and the voltage is stable for 4.6 quite comfortably as well. Plus I tried it at stock with auto voltage and same crashes.

Have you got Elpida RAM Rusty?? I thought the Tri-X had Hynix.

U WOT M8?

Elpida does the job, no doubt about it. However according to my testing on Firestrike my 290 Elpida cards lose me over 1,200 gpu points in a single card run vs my Asus 290 with Hynix memory. If you're not benching then it will make very little difference. In games this probably translates to 1-2 fps maximum.

Also running with Elpida memory but works fine, also after doing a little modding l added some heatsinks to the VRM 1 and 2, with a seperate fan blowing over VRM 1, now with all fans set to low the GPU hits 57'c, VRM 1 @ 81'c and VRM 2 @ 60.c. Sure l now have 9 fans in my case but still pretty quiet :). Just won't be removing the R9 290 any time soon lol, zip tied to the max :) Apart from that the NZXT does a stirling job.
