AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Sorry Shankly but they shew a graph with 3DMark Firestrike performance scores for the GPU's and it showed 8000 points for the R9 290X. This is very low and Besty has comfortably beat that with a 7970 (big clocks on his 7970 though).

Overclocking is something we will get from review sites and hopefully they will have some big headroom.

I match that 8K with my 7950..

Did we expect more, the 780 isn't much of an improvement over the 680 so why should the next in mind amd card be much more than a 7970? Its next year where it counts

So releasing a GPU generation at the back end of 2013 just seems somewhat strange.

No, as because as was said before, this is a press event. This is nothing new, it's just not normally streamed.

The scores in the AMD presentation might have been run on an FX CPU. The Star Citizen demo is on a FX9590 and a R9 290X for example.
