AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Yep. Nvidia and Intel do the same types of press events which no one usually watches anyway.

Haha true. The funny thing is people keep bitching, they also keep watching. :D

EDIT

Damn Thief next. Wish they'd just show bf4. Ah well bed time now and this time i mean it.

Well GPU prices can just be higher.

If you looked at leaked Nvidia slides, they were bitching and moaning that newer processes were too expensive, and making it not cost effective quickly moving onto new nodes.

Hence, you saw the "small" die GK104 appearing in retail nearly one year before the GK110 based Geforce Titan(which had a massive price),and even the GK110 based compute cards appeared 6 to 9 months after the GK104.

On top of this Apple,is now moving onto using TSMC(instead of Samsung only) and they need massive capacity,so will pay for early access to 20NM. So will Qualcomm. These companies dwarf AMD and Nvidia in purchasing power.

Edit!!

Here are the slides:

Nvidia made a crap ton from 28nm with GK104 though, :p

Oh well, I guess a 7970 will stay :(

Expect smaller dies, but it does not change the fact Apple is a major issue here.

This is unlike the last couple of years.

AMD also shown first picture of the R9 290 non-X. Apparently it looks just the same as 290X. It’s almost obvious we are looking at another Hawaii-based graphics card.

The asking price is $600, the card will be available in mid October.

AMD Radeon R9 290X Specifications:
11 CUs (compute units)
44 SMIDs (11 per CU)
2,816 stream processors
176 TMUs (Texture Mapping Units)
44 ROPs (Raster Operating Units)
4GB GDDR5 VRAM (6GB models will come later) — according to Softpedia
5+1+1 phase design (5 Phase Core and 1 Phase memory)
2 x DVI ports
1 x HDMI
1 x DisplayPort
8-Pin plus 6-Pin power connectors (300W TDP)
