AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Was it a leaked slide or a slide they showed on the live stream?

Makes no diff to me, they wrote it down on something they intended to distribute. So a delay has in fact occurred, but they think they can get away with it by lumping NDAs on top of each other.

We should have had a solid date a month ago.

Just think in a couple of years you will remember this as either. "remember when amd released that awesome 290x card?"... Or "remember when we were waiting for ages to find out anything about that card". If it's good nobody will care :D

I just had a look through the AND Presentation and there's nothing in there about October 15th.

The NDA for the Radeon R9 290X specifications officially ends on October 15th and that’s basically when the card would either hit retail or final specifications for the card would be unveiled.

TechPowerUp reports that AMD may have actually revealed the launch date of the R9 290X at a press event in Turkey. Apparently, the press NDA is scheduled to expire on October 15, just over two weeks from now.

A recent report hints that the AMD Radeon R9 290X will be available in a fortnight’s time, from 15th October. This rumour stems from certain presentation slides, seen at a Turkish AMD press event, bearing an NDA expiration date of 15th October

In any case, we will know for sure next week as the R9 290X should crawl from under the NDA veil on October 15th.

Just a couple of well known and respected sites all reporting the same and I find it hard to believe that AMD Roy or any other AMD rep has read this and not corrected just one of them. I feel they planned to lift the NDA at least on the 15th but have run into problems.

UPDATE
Short after posting this story we received more information. According to it the release date is close to the official launch of Battlefield 4. Although I cannot confirm it (just) yet.

&..

The reasons for the delay can only be speculated, with some saying that it’s to coincide more closely with the launch of Battlefield 4 and others saying AMD is waiting to for Nvidia’s expected GTX 770Ti reveal.

I guess with the NDA in place - they can say what they like

now once the NDA is over - will the reviewers etc be under NDA to state what the original date was/is - if there was a difference (which there may not be)

Would make sense to launch these just before BF4 is released, so people who have pre-ordered can get their hands on the cards a day or two beforehand, have a fiddle with them and get ready to download BF4 as soon as it's released.

But when have these things ever made sense anyway? :o

Aren't Nvidia planning a big unveil on the 16th? Maybe AMD are playing the waiting game then.. As AMD never announced a launch date it doesn't really matter. Is disappointing for the guys that have pre-ordered, you kind of feel AMD could have stopped wrong info being leaked out so people felt more confident in pre-ordering but it is what it is.
