On a side note,Gregster, are you a fan of anime??

I just noticed an Ergo Proxy banner in your sig.

Yes mate. Loved Ergo Proxy and watched it a couple of times. Just finished watching Shingeki no kyojin and very much recommend it. Fate stay Night is my other sig as well as Shingeki no kyojin. Sorry for OT.

Edit:

If we was on topic of course :p

No, your not getting it, your taking the screens Pixels as a whole.

The way your looking at it you need to multiply the amount of pixels by the amount of lines, IE 3840 pixels multiplied by 2160 lines = eight million two hundred and ninety four thousand four hundred: 8.294,400 (8.3MP) times by 3 and you get 24,883,200 pixels. (25mp)

Which is not "No where near 12k, not even close to 8K" the K stands as it always does "thousand"

Your mixing up the total amount of pixels across one line (Which is where you derive 12K from) with the total amount of pixels in the image as a whole.

I didn't derive 12k...
You said 3x 4k screens is almost 12k
The industry has a set naming scheme and 3x 4k screens isn't even 8k

Excuse my poor paint skills, I have roughly drawn on an 8K diagram from wiki

As you can see, 8K is 4x 4K screens (16x 1080p screens)

Ergo Proxy was good, especially when you figured out what it was all about. The intro sequence and music is pretty well done too. The album which Kiri is on actually got very good reviews from AMG:

Not meaning to state the obvious and apologies to those who tut and say we know but there may be the odd person who doesn't.

The 290X is being touted as a 4K card. Now you try playing Crysis 3 at 4K on a 290X, the same for BF3/FarCry3/MetroLL in fact any modern AAA title and regardless of the memory being 512 Bit, you are still going to see 20fps or below with max settings (which you will want if you have splashed the cash on a 4K screen). You will be needing 3 of these at a minimum for any 4K gaming at decent settings.

people who only game via tv need to think of other things as well:-

for anyone that games via tv only, i would say that this 290X seems to be a total waste of time, unless of course you are struggling with an old card right now.

i would wait till you choose the next TV tech, either 4K or OLED.....in maybe 2 years or less, this will coincide with needing to build a brand new rig anyway...so there you go !

this card isn't powerful enough for 4K Gaming

Wrong layout, 3 screens "not 4 or 16" in a line "not ontop of eachother"

The pixel lines run horizontally, so if you have 3 lines of ~4K pixels running horizontally putting them together it amounts to ~12K given that they connect horizontally.

The illustration you used they connects two ~4K lines horizontally, which is why the industry dubbed it 8K.

I know what your driving at, but the way you interoperate what i said is just plain wrong, i'm not using two layers of screens. IE 6, i'm using 3, which is what the 12K eyeifinity in the youtube link was.

Will humbug admit he's wrong? He never does.

OT: All those animes are ghey, I only watch manly shows like Berserk and Ippo.

Early films like Akira and Fist of the North Star got me into them and just recently started watching a few of the Anime series. Loving them and some of the music is fantastic :D

Ippo meh!!! :D

As far as Humbug goes, he will never admit defeat. I would like to see someone game on 8K resolutions with todays horse power....

So realistically are we going to see 4k screens within the next 2 years at a consumer price level with a decent refresh rate?

it's if the card can handle the refresh rate/ file size, because right now it'll be about 25fps, but in 2 years time yes.
