AMD Radeon R9 290X with Hawaii GPU pictured, has 512-bit 4GB Memory

Could it heat a small family home?

Not really. It fluctuates around 85c on the default fan profile. 780s and Titan are made to run at this temperature on air.

Aye its pretty much standard temp for these cards. AMD just gets a harder time because their cooler shroud is plastic and Nvidia's is metal. The Nvidia obviously looks nicer but if AMD adopted a design like that their prices would rise. Most people buying AMD gpu's care about price. That's how i see it anyway.

I've no idea Kaap. I've yet to try to watercool anything. Its on my todo list though. Will likely have a stab at it when i upgrade to a single gpu when my 7950's stop cutting the mustard at 1440p.

All joking aside, when I get my cards up and running any help from the AMD regulars will be most welcome.:)

Come on Matt I am going to need some input, what are the best waterblocks to get for AMD cards, full length only though.

EK, aquacomputer or watercool (heatkiller). All will have direct cooling of the vitals, though with you running 4 you should be looking at ek as they offer the highest flow.

You don't need it. :p

I care about price ! that's why I buy nVidia reference

What i meant by that was, someone looking to get good bang for their buck generally buys AMD. Someone who doesn't care about that buys Nvidia. Not quite a one fits all solution but you can see where im coming from.

Hehe I know - was just teasing.:p
I mainly buy nVidia beause I like to have physX and generally SLi runs trouble free with older games (pre-dating 2009 too), and I'm just so used to nvidia drivers after all these years in my main rigs. And I guess I just fancy green :D

Hope it comes in at £450 as competition is always good! However would be a complete side-grade for me, I shall hold out for maxwell/pirate islands!

But according to Broomstick all 780's do 1300? :p

Now now I never said did I, most are good for 1250mhz+ though, GK110 is very clockable. The 780's seem to do better than Titan's.

The reason I wanna see a highly clocked VS highly clocked is my card can do 1300Mhz, interested to see if 290X can match it at like 1200mhz

Now you know you are being silly...All GPU's that boom uses hold 60+fps and each one being smoother than the last :D

This is true ;) I think it has more to do with the PC user rather than the hardware :p

In BF4 for example, some guys couldn't get 60fps, but I was using 8.1, 4.4Ghz 4770K and 1300mhz GTX 780, ran as smooth as a seal covered in butter.

after gibbo's last smilies im going for £360 on 290 and £450 on the 290x
and like anything amd, dicky dickinsons real deal it wll come down if they dont sell :)

I want to see them bundle a 4k monitor instead of the games

In the US you can get a 50inch 4K TV for <$1000 (Seiko Digital SE50UY04). When it comes to the UK I'm going to think about getting it if its priced at ~£700 :)

4K gaming is coming and as soon as manufacturers hit the right price point, 1080p will be a thing of the past, like SSDs and HDD

That 4k tv is on HDMI 1.4b so only 30Hz refresh so completely hopeless as a gaming monitor not to mention cheap tv cheap panel.

4K might well be coming but 1080 is here to stay for many years yet especially for gaming monitors. At the moment its little more than an industry buzzword.
