AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Has anyone broken the mini display port to display port thingy yet? I was sitting playing my 4K games, screen went black. Pushed the already bending mini display port bit and the screen goes black, Dead. I had to go pay 13 quid for a mini display port to display port cable  You'd think you'd get something a little less cheaper for your bucks eh :P

Other than that, Great card so far.... Temps never go above 50c! under 100% load for both chips so am happy.

Yeah :) this card is asking for proper watercooling and 4K monitor to show it's might.

However still, if you have some good cold airflow, or you manage to get the rad outside the box with some good fans, it doesn't get hot at full load with a setup like -50/-60mV, +50% limit, and up to 1180-1100/1625 overclock.

bemaniac has it at stock speeds with -100mV and +50% limit, on 4K res playing Crysis 3!!!! I bet his card going to generate power soon, not consume it :D (lol).

I wouldn't say this is a 4K card, BF4 on medium sure but it's not amazing xD

That and, The lack of support for crossfire puts this card mostly at just a normal 290x.

yeah lol. Going to angle the pipes to the bottom today rather than the side as reckon that will be my last 2degrees off for total non-downclocking in anything.

I play TW Rome 2 almost whole day. After 90 hours having played it previously, this time I enjoy it most. It doesn't become a slideshow like with the 780 on big battles, nor having the damn fans screaming even at stock speeds.

The only problem I have is the damn flickering of the screen after a turn ends, if there is no report popup.
I cleared up the CA folder in %appdata% and deleted rome 2.exe to rebuild it, and cleared some outdated mods. Still nothing.

And I have made it system settings, by selecting the CF profile AMD provides with the drivers.

Anyone has experienced the issue?

Beta patch 15 fixes the issue

I think my mini dp adapter is broken as it no longer works. I tried using the mini dp cable overclockers sold me but it causes flickering..................urgh. Accell in the USA charge £70 for a certified 4k cable. I'm stuck with no gaming now because of my broken adapter.....this cable even flickers at 1440p on my partners pc it's not right.

chaps,

what I cant work out with two times 295x2 is what wattage does it really pull?

there are massive differences across the reviews from ~1000 right up to ~1400

the sapphire card according to their website pulls 28A on each 8pin so 28Ax2=56Ax12V=672wx2=1344w

but Toms Hardware have just tested this with a fraction under 1000w!

which is right ~1000w or 1344w?

In all honesty why chance running them on a 1000w just do it right and get a 1400+, yes you will see people stating that they have 2 running on a 1000w psu but these are normally exceptional units that can run well above their rated wattage, like the superflower leadex 1000w plat.

actually I was thinking of running 1x295x2 and 2x290x but the numbers are just so far apart it doesnt make sense.

im not really thinking of chancing it but it is yet more expense so would like to keep my 1200w
