What resolution is this? 60fps seems low unless it's 4k.

Well I am thinking of setting up a tri fire system with my 295x2 . A few questions though.
Reckon its worth waiting to see if we can add the new 390 card with the 295?
If i get a SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 290X TRI-X OC are they dx 12 compatible like the 295 is meant to be?
Also atm I am getting 67fps in bf4 tomb raider is getting 60 fps in it's benchmark, will a 3rd card make much of a diffrence to the fps/ smoothness in game? all are with vsync on otherwise the tearing is terrible.
390 is coming out next year.
Regarding DX12, someone was saying that the GCN architecture can work with it with a simple driver update. HOWEVER, we are not going to see DX games well after 2016. It was just penned down, and not released yet. It's release is going to be pretty limited according to MS (only few of devs), and they will run it in parallel with DX11 for years to come. (DX11 gets another update soon)
So DX12 shouldn't be in your thoughts when you buy graphic cards atm.
By the time is going to be out, all going to be outdated (even the 970/980)
Which resolution you get those fps? Because these should be 4K res fps not lower than that. But yes it will work well with the 295X2.
Add space between the cards, since 290 doesn't need CF connector.
Sorry I forgot to say yes these are at 4k on the asus 28 inch PB287Q. My 295x2 is on the bottom pci atm so I have 2 inch clearance between that and another card. Thanks for the info about dx 12 . How is everyone else finding windows 7 with 4k ?
My self depending what I am trying to play/read its hit and miss xD So hope windows 9 will help with this problem
Which motherboard you have and the space is so limited? At least on my motherboard, I can put even a second 295X2 and still have 10cm (almost 4 inches) between cards.
As for 4K I have no idea. I am waiting for the curved 34" monitors so I still have 1080p one. But everything is maxed out and runs perfect
I have a maxiums6 hero board. The room is because of the way my cpu liquard cooler is set up.
As to the monitor tbh I am regretting switching from my 144hz asus 24 inch monitor 1080p fps just don't feel smooth like they use to but there is no going back now!
One thing I really hope happens is bf4 gets the drivers to support this card as mine has horrible times trying to play it on the 14.8 beta drivers. It stutters, freezes for 1-2secs or just locks up so I get kicked from the server will try bf4 without mantel tomorrow to see if dx will work better.
I do not know if SC Arena Commander supports currently Mantle. (they say it will in the future).
But I will know later this week for this also, when I receive the AMD key.
No, it doesn't support Mantle yet (probably won't until much closer to release). Also, SLI/CF isn't supported yet because CryEngine with PBR (3.6.x) doesn't support it yet ... they're trying to get that in for v1.0 of Arena Commander though.
With games that don't support CF, we can try to ram it through and most of the time it works with custom profile.
I will let you know how it goes

Heh, they manage to make it work
Watch Dogs
AMD Radeon R9 290 Series / R9 270 Series – improves up to 9%
AMD CrossFire – Frame pacing improvement
Improved CrossFire performance – up to 20%
Might actually work now!
I think my question has been asked before, but I don't think it's been answered.
With the 295x2 what's the current provided by the fan header?
I'm thinking of installing a fan splitter and running 2 non-stock fans in push/pull. My worry is that the fan header might provide enough amps and so 2 fans might overload the connector and cause damage.
Has anyone tried it?
Has anyone measured it (or did you find out the current from somewhere)?
I asked the vendor rep AMDMatt who told me to measure it with an ammeter (Which I don't have).
So can anyone be more helpful than AMD?
I replaced the fan with 2 Piranhas. I used a normal 4 PWM splitter from the motherboard Sysfan. Also the 2 Magmas I tried for a bit, used their normal PSU power connector.
Which fans you plan to use?
