AMD Radeon R9 295X2 Owners Thread

Some sad people about, i had my new nuts removed once, couldn't believe it.
I have a garage now, as i had to, as people would just steal things..

I be back home next week, i'll show you some pics.
I rebuilt the gearbox year before last! straight cut gear, new bearing etc.

My biggest regret was adding straight cut input gears etc, as there 23 teeth and should have got 24 teeth. the 23rd is what gives you that whining noise, and it's far to loud lol i should have called it a nvidia 970 because of the whine :D opps lol joke guys ;)

you just have a 1275cc. Have you done anything to it.

Guy i know has a green 1275GT. you may of seen it at L2B run! it's really nice mini.

You lost me on the gear box building but I know what you mean about the whining noise. I like that noise when some minis are going past but I suppose if your sitting on that noise all the time it can get annoying.

I've never dabbled with the engine apart from new fuel pump, stabilisers etc. I renew the suspension with new cones, hilos, agx shocks, ball joints etc. I don't normally dabble unless something breaks, I just love driving it.

Got a problem with it at the moment where it won't start unless I tip a little fuel straight into the carb. Getting plenty of fuel to the carb but it just won't start from Cold.

Ordered 2 of the 2,000 fans for the card! will try my 3pin y splitter to see if the card can run both fans. if it don't work i'll get same controller, as my gigabyte boards fan software suc**:D. and for some reason, speed fan don't pick up the fans lol.

I like the software on the Asus better

Good luck mate, I don't think it will work though. You'll need that fan controller i reckon. :)

I can guarantee that two corsair sp120 fans (3 pin) run fine using a 3 pin splitter off the 295x2 rad fan connector, because I'm using them.

Interesting, but do they pull less lower than these? I have to admit, i was a little disappointed to find out the Noctua's didn't work with my 295x2. I wonder if they would kick in if temps got high enough, perhaps at idle there was not enough power to drive then. Not sure.

Clicking? Not that I've heard....maybe those people didn't fully click in the changeable colour bands :)

Don't think they are much louder than the stock fan to be honest. I can certainly feel more heat being exhausted out the back now though and the GPU's aren't throttling any more.

That's without power adjustments.

Hopefully no conflict of interest linking to this forum post.

But I took a punt based on what this guy said:

http://www.overclockers.com/forums/...onfiguration?p=7740180&viewfull=1#post7740180

I tried a number of 3/4 pin fans but none worked. The only that worked off it were corsair sp120 performance fans (3 pin, not pwm). I suspect because the ampage was more similar to the stock fan. With these in push pull it's cooler and the sound is quieter and also has a more tolerable tonal quality than the stock. Hope this helps.

And they are running great

Just bought the new Dragon Age and the 295X2 runs 100% scaling in crossfire. 4k on the default ultra settings but 0xAA is solid 60fps (all ultra except high post processing and tesselation) 2xAA introduced 45-60fps in cutscenes and occasional going over the 7800mb or so causing stuttering so I turned it off.

Great performance! AMD should do a limited run of 2x8gb 295x2s :)

Thanks for that, I think the clicking is from when running at minimum speed the card didn't quite give enough power for the fans so they sort of stop/start all the time. Maybe they were just unlucky, think I'll give a couple of them a go.
Will any old splitter cable work and are the screws that come with the fans all that you need to fit them push/pull?

Ok thanks, after looking at the SP fans exactly which model have you got?. I thought there were only two types, a normal SP and a Quiet Edition but it looks like there is a third as well.

LED version

Quiet Edition

Performance Edition

I know the Quiet version isn't suitable but I originally thought the LED version was the same as the Performance one but I guess not after looking at the product pages? Shame as I wanted the LED ones to match my other fans but if they aren't up to the job then the red ring version of the Performance edition will have to do.

When you get them can you do test of temps on stock and them with them installed ? as many games as you can etc...

2 for a price of one Noctura.... tempting...

I'd love to see a comparison of the performance edition vs the 2,000 RPM PPC Industrials using a 295x2.

This would be probably plenty of hassle but for scientific purposes would you consider getting 2 pack of those and trying it ?

My temperatures were never good to start with though, that's the reason I bought them, to stop the cards throttling after 10 minutes.

Seems to have done the trick.

Trouble is each 295x2 seems different.

Look at the vital stats though, Noctua's appear to be better. :)

Industrial 2,000 RPM

Airflow: 71.7 CFM
Acoustical Noise: 29.7 dB(A)
Rotational Speed (± 10%): 2000 RPM
Static Pressure: 3.94 mm H2O

Corsair Performance SP120

Airflow: 62.74 CFM
Sound Level: 35 dBA
Speed: 2350 RPM
Static Pressure: 3.1 mm/H20

Well stats is one thing, the fact you can't run it from the header on the card is another...That's why I would say its worth a try, even for you...but its up to you ofc :)
