AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT & Radeon RX 5500 7nm Navi 14 GPUs Unveiled

Must admit I neglect the cash back via Quidco or Top Cashback. Just seems odd, I have had cashback before, but it seems too good to be true even though I'd had it, like how does it even work how do they all make money whilst still giving you cash back.

Rebates are often better for "the company" as they plan on only a certain percentage actually claiming it back, or being able to deny claims often with no resubmission allowed (which should be illegal tbh.. but somehow they get away with it... Looking at you MSI).

Right now though you can get the far better 5700 for barely 250 if you are smart and prepared for cash back route.

Cashback isn't a guarantee especially given Asus colourful history with awarding them, then £25 of that is a limited amount only the first 1000 claims, and it's a reference design rather than a AIB card. Not saying it is not a good deal, but there is risk associated with it, vs. RX 590 AIB card with free game delivered next day at £149. That what it needs to be, not a run around the houses to get a similar price.

Only over the past few months though.

Well it only came out just under 13 months ago, and last year was the RX 580 that was being sold at a lower price, below that of the GTX 1060 which still hadn't been replaced. RX 590 has been ~£190-200 since June, and obviously is now EOL'd and been dropped to ensure it is a serious option to those on a budget who might otherwise consider a GTX 1660.

I'd say AMD may have even benefited by a good amount of positive exposure from the Ryzen 3xxx, and the fact there is a lot more positive spin on the name 'AMD' with the media.

the price will kill the sales of these for a good while until the 570s and 580s get hoovered up. then the 570 position will be took by this new 5500xt. the performance in many games isnt even that much different over the 570 in many games which at cheapest is about £100 ish especially with sales on. then sell borderlands 3 or whatever game you get for £20 and you got a £80-90 card vs a £150 minimum. they gunna struggle to sell for 3 months plus.

5500xt needs to be £130.

RTG has delusions of grandeur - they still seem to be on another planet when compared to the CPU part of the company.

AMD's first priority right now is to give life into its Graphics division again. They need it for their consoles business, APU business and in the competition with nvidia.

Polaris surely has to be considered a legendary architecture given the length of time it's hung around and remained relevant

In the beginning, when the Radeon RX 480 was launched back in June 2016, the top card at that time GTX 1080 was just 84% faster at 4K https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-rx-480/24.html

Today, RX 480 is the entry level, the lowest possible tier, with the fastest cards being around 200% faster than it! Maybe even more!

Meh. Hawaii GPUs still offer around the same level of performance and came out three years before Polaris. Sure, they use more power, but that's generally the price you pay for hanging onto "legendary" parts. Polaris wasn't anything special even at launch. Just a "good enough" mid-range part. If anything, the amount of time it's lingered around shows the utter stagnation of the GPU market over the past few years, rather than saying anything about how good Polaris is.

This is pretty much my point of view

You know they got PS5 and Scarlett ?

That's like the next 6-10 years of consoles...

First of all the graphics IP in the consoles gets updated during the lifecycle of the console.
Second of all, no one nowhere promises that the next-gen consoles might be a success!

And third - it's really a pity to have this monopoly by AMD there, despite the fact that maybe it's good for their survival.
