AMD RX 580 and RX 560 leak

You would imagine they have found some power savings as they have upped the clocks and Oem designs are said to be running at over 1400 mhz. I would imagine to get there on 480's you would have to up the voltage a decent amount using way more power than AMD would want v a gtx1060 which sips power.
185W for the 580 is definitely not sipping power.

That's more than a GTX 1080 isn't it?

It's a new revision of the chips, plus yields will be higher. You might also simply find there is less overclocking headroom as they shifted up base clocks.

still wondering why Aorus has gone for twin 8 Pins, only leads me to believe of 980 Ti days and binning all that power saving c*** and going for pure horse power

*** correction, MSI has twin 8 pin too

sorr for hot linking but seem 145w and hitting 1500+

1528MHz Overclock for this one

£235 and 600w PSU recommended ....

chinese but Aorus XTR- 6+2 VRM

74c under gaming, 350w power draw

seems Strix has Ti design thrown in

seems in BF1 pulls way from 480 other games not so much

Remember at the launch of the RX480 all the issues surrounding the power consumption and limits of the power provided by PCI-E and 6 pin connectors, AMD having to make emergency firmware to curb power consumption and reduce the PCI-E load etc. AMD and partners are dong things properly now, and in some cases simply over-engineering.

LOL that so awful.

Here another review up.

340W at full load running Unigine 4.0 Heaven Benchmark, my 1070 only used 250W at full load at that benchmark.

RX 580 launch are EPIC FAIL!

So it's a fail yet the review says otherwise.

Pros:
  • Golden Ticket
  • Overclocking
  • Excellent cooling
  • Low noise
  • Good looks
  • Smaller size
  • Pricing

Cons:
  • Polaris refreshed
  • Power use overclocked

It's OK... just pay the premium to ensure you get an XTR. I'm sure it's worth it /S
It's not even about the money, it's about the messaging. Like, it sounds like consumers wont necessarily know which they're getting and will just have to guess by out-the-box clock speeds and cross their fingers.

starting to think they should have released the XBOX Design, but guessing MS locked that down with a lot of $$$$$
Microsoft wont have paid extra to 'lock down' exclusivity on a 44 CU Polaris, but the custom design they're using obviously is meant only for them. That's always how custom hardware works.

Still, it shows AMD have the capability of making a larger Polaris 10 and just aren't going to. Maybe they're happy with where it sits in their range and a bigger Polaris might intrude too closely on an upcoming small Vega?
