AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I'm trying to gauge when best to sell my 4090 to maximise value, I don't mind just playing on the Steamdeck for 4-8 weeks while I wait for the 5090 either, or I may just pick up a 2nd hand 3060 or something to bridge the gap.

I'm planning to jump on the 9800x3d later this week upgrading from a 4 year old 5800x build. Motherboard (X870E AsRock Nova), Gen 5 SSD for OS (2TB Crucial T700) and memory (64GB 4*16 Corsair Vengeance 6000hz CAS30) already bought. I'm tempted by the 7950x3d though, but I'm primarily a gamer who dabbles in video editing, game development and AI, so the 9800x3d makes more sense to me I think.

Bloody hell, how did you manage to sell a 4090 for £1700 Lol!

It's the 4090 fe which has held its value really well, been one of the best technically and also the smallest profile. Nvidia stopped making them a few months back as well, which only raised the prices. Best part is no fees where I sold it anymore!

Someone hasn't done the home work :) I guess you almost got your money back
In what sense? I'm aware it's likely January or beyond (if unlucky against bots etc). I was planning to just use my integrated graphics in the mean time, but I see someone just mentioned the Steam Deck which is pretty tempting!

I've essentially had two years max setting gaming for free. I have been of the opinion it's better to stay at the top than let the parts depreciate. From a 7600x and 4090fe to a 9800x3D and a 5090 for £600 (if 5090 is 2k).

As we get closer to launch the market will get flooded with 40 series IMO, hence the early sale.

In sense that someone paid £1700 for 2nd hand gpu

Oh right sorry I thought you meant from my perspective. Yeah I mean if you really want a 4090 fe that's kind of the price, for 3 months extra gaming and no doubt 300 off a 5090 (I can't see it been less than 2 grand, given the leaked spec). I get the sense it may be a business use as well.

I'm sure it will go down in value soon once more people list.

Are we thinking this is an order on the day thing then? Weren’t there pre-orders for the other 9000 series and Intel CPUs recently?

I think the 7800x3d was order on the day.

Ive asked OCUK for any information regarding stock levels, price etc so if I hear anything back I will post here.

Personally I think they look the most adult. Component wise they are in the top three. Also the small form factor for small case builds and of course price etc. I think my 5090 will likely be a FE.

what do you mean by cost? Cheaper to buy or more expensive?, never looked much in to xx90 cards as always above my budget, but I would have to lose my marbles if I was to pay that kind of money for 2nd hand gpu
You will get them at RRP and they don’t tend to sway from it like the others.
