IIRC the Crosshair has both sets of holes. AM3+ and AM4. So that would be worth looking into if you didn't want to buy an adapter/it to work straight away.

Make sure you double check that though, 'cause I ain't

Why is there a £70 price difference between the 1700 & 1700X when you only gain 100mhz...not worth it imo.

To be honest,Im not blown away at those prices,i think they're too expensive.

Beats Intel's chips at half the cost and TDP. You think they are too expensive? Really is no pleasing some people xD.

I think its likely for people going forward. This is why it made sense to preorder even while you wait for benchmarks
