companies are not evil, they are your friend, amd doesn't block dlss, nvidia doesn't limit your vram, these companies have your best interest at heart, they are not for profit charities here to help you with your pc hardware buying addictions

Exactly, it's the Milton Friedman school of GPUs. The more the companies shrinkflate the better society will become because their greed is the magic that makes the world turn. Of course these "improvements" might be best measured by continued shrinkflation in the future but I digress. :P

My issue with it is they are wasting the money on this
You don't know it's a waste, nor how much money it really is.
when they could be spending it on improving FSR.
Who says they're not also doing that? Besides, what if this is the best it's going to be without adding an ML model. Then it doesn't matter how much money they throw at it, they have to decide to start excluding the other vendors & their own userbase for pre-RDNA 4 (or maybe let's say RDNA 3 could still half-pass with what they already have), just like Nvidia & Intel have.

Well if we are going to go down that route, we also don't know that it is not a waste. We don't know if they are or are not doing it.

What should we do, just say nothing? Do you know that is the best they can do without an ML model? I am guess no?

All I know is how it impacts me. All I know is I have seen games where FSR can be much better than it other games. I have seen that it can be just as good as DLSS. But then when they sponsor a game like Resident Evil 4 Remake and give me FSR that is nowhere near as good as DLSS which a modder sorts out, yeah, I am not going to be too thrilled.

TBH none of them are ever going to look fantastic. Better? I guess, but the engine has always been the limiting factor. Even when it launched it (FO4) never looked great. The time these games need to be in dev for the quests to be written and ETC? none of them will ever be a stunner when launched. Otherwise they would just fall into the "Duke Nukem Forever" loop of infinity.

It's nice seeing a game that looks amazing. Obs. But I have never ever cared about that.
Just one example RDR2. :)

It just seems "implement all three of them" with extra steps.
This will be either a DX standard at some point (preferably hardware, for best results) or each does its own thing. Is not that difficult to support all of them anyway. There are no excuses not to do it other than laziness.
I disagree, everyone being focused on their own standalone version seems like more work than everyone collaborating on a single open-source project.

That will only happen as part of dx.
Extra work to support all is not that much and for a big project is basically peanuts. Supporting just DLSS or FSR is either laziness or ill intent.

What is nonsense? They obviously blocked it. Why else would it not be available when it takes a single modder a single day of work to release it.

They were never going to come out and say yeah we blocked it were they. Just like Nvidia never would come out and say they did the crap they did in the past to screw AMD.

Funny how when they were asked directly first time round, they never came back with a clear cut answer ;)

This has been updated now:

Only problem with that chart above is that there are different kinds of "sponsorships", which aren't taken into account i.e. things like tlou and uncharted are more like partnerships where amd bundled the games with their stuff and aren't "technical" sponsorships like callisto protocol, starfield.

But hey, gamer nexus must be nvidia shills now :p

Either way, it's really a non-issue tbh, we have seen time and time again, dlss can easily be modded in now and the results are still just as good as the official implementation, thanks to nvidias t-shirt sizing presets where devs don't have to do the same fine tuning as is required for FSR. For games where FSR isn't included, well it can also be modded in although results are questionable as the devs need to tweak themselves to get the best from it, maybe amd in the future will do a more drop in and of you go kind of version like dlss.

AMD have single digit share of the market. Wouldn't Devs be foolish to accept this request from AMD?
If every RTX owner put a bit of pressure on Bethesda or whoever instead of playing the victim and pointing the finger at AMD maybe it would be added.
