AMD THREADRIPPER VS INTEL SKYLAKE X

That only applies to VROC. IRST remains the same. Dude, honestly, one day you'll nail it. See, this circulates right back to owning or using the platform, rather than blabbering vicariously. (That's a bit different to agreeing with the idea, which I don't. Especially the Intel drive only part)

Yeah some boards have a bit different setup but on most IRST remains as per previous generation with full RAID, etc. a lot of people don't seem to understand what VROC does and the implications for NVME RAID. You do have to watch out a bit though as some boards have different M.2 restrictions/setup to others on X299.

What if your work / gaming is divided 50%/50%, so in my case its premiere, after effects, cinema 4d, etc. on weekends on downtime id be playing 2560x1440, 140hz gaming. The 7950x will have that advantage in games but will fall short in productivity compared to TR?

Then again, they will both be beasts...

Link to the review?

yeah, the only thing i have seen so far is this....

16 core 7950X performance looks like its the same as the 16 core Threadripper.
Even Intel's 18 core chip is only 10% faster.

That EPYC thou.... its Epic :D ok i'll get my coat :(

What's the price and power consumption of that Intel chip?

The funny thing that AMD have done with Threadripper is persuade quite a lot of people that spending 1000 pounds on a cpu is now acceptable - me included!
