Can anyone shed some light on what this 285 card is then for someone (aka me) who doesn't know anything about it lol. Is it a 290 replacement or just a more energy efficient 280 with brand new architecture? I'm guessing if its the later, it'll be the same architecture on a full fat model in a few months that'll replace the 290 range?

Energy enhanced 280, but will probably feature 2GB and 256-bit.

Ah so its a replacement for the aging 7000 series rebrands then? Makes sense actually. So we can assume that the 290 replacement will be on the same new architecture?

He's spot on about the frame pacing thing though, multiple sites now say it, they can't all be wrong. As for 4K, assuming the 290 does not run out of vram it's definitely faster.

Personally i thought he was very fair. He flat out said at an AMD conference that crossfire was not good enough until AMD sorted it. He was one of AMD's biggest critics. Now that he says something good he's deluded lol.
